Oh, hey! We didn't miss the weekend this time. Time for another community chat and giving out your latest recommendations.
After mentioning last time about my current love affair with the Raspberry Pi 4, that has very much continued. Everything seems to be holding up nicely on it. There's been plenty of Steam Link game streaming, which has been quite the highlight due to how smoothly it has been working.
For actual games though, I'm going to take this moment to totally plug CARRION again (see my review) because it's just wonderfully crafted. I'm now onto my second play-through to see if there are any fun things I missed. Sounds like it's been quite a successful launch too.
Here's a bit of trivia for you: the levels in CARRION were almost entirely made using Tiled, a free and open source general purpose tile map editor.

Yesterday, I've finished Ion Fury and my opinion is that it's awesome.
Another FPS but with one of the best level design I ever saw, the music is so great and fits the fast paced action you're put through, graphics are finely crafted pixel arts with lots of variety.
About the gameplay, I've had more fun with this one than Doom eternal, to hell with flame thrower this and glory kill that, me see me shoot and that's what I want. Doom is still very good don't get me wrong...
And I also finished Shadowrun Returns, a fallout-ish squad based T-RPG. It's good fun, not transcendent, writing is good, found it a tad boring in the end.
Finally, I've started a memory refresher of Beneath a Steel Sky, works great with ScummVm.

I've been flying around Rio in X-Plane 11 with the "new" vulkan renderer (very smooth), and checking out the latest update in No Man's Sky.

I've been enjoying punching thugs and running a hostess club in Kiwami 2 which has been a lot of fun; moreso than Kiwami imo, but Yakuza 2 is also a fav of mine so.
Oh, and I've been really impressed by Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed, which I've been playing a lot of with my partner. I was pretty skeptical initially, but I'd honestly say it rivals Mario Kart for me :)

Since the EAC builds of wine do not work after the latest EAC updates. I can't play Apex Legends anymore sadly, which i really started to like, even though i dont like battle royale games usually, but the gunplay in it was so responsive and fun, so i got quite hooked.
But that made me go back to Warhammer Online (Return of Reckoning) once again, to satisfy my PvP needs.

Keep coming back to Tabletop Simulator. It's the perfect antidote to life under quarantine. (Well, maybe there is one antidote that's better, but...) Within Tabletop Simulator, I've been playing mostly Betrayal at House on the Hill and Lords of Vegas. Both are awesome fun with a group of friends. And yes, I bought the physical games to support the creators. :-)
Otherwise, ShellShock Live still scratches my itch for quick multiplayer combat and fun tactics.

Bought Carrion for the Switch after reading about it here. Also the Steam version, but I found click-to-move somewhat frustrating. Also, Steam offers refunds, Nintendo does not :( (Though I refunded to Steam wallet, hoping that it won't incur the chargeback fees on the developer.)

Skyrim was on sale a while back, and it's pulled me back in this past week. Gameplay is kind of bad, but the world is vibrant and feels alive, like I'm witnessing events already in motion. Having already rounded the game when it was new, I opted to skip Whiterun and experience the world minus the dragons.
Took a bit of tinkering to get audio working properly on Linux, but thanks to a guide, now it runs perfectly.
In other news, Star Wars The Old Republic is now on Steam, finally bringing a proper WOW-style MMO to Steam. No, Ryzom, Champions of Regnum and Albion Online didn't count, they were in an entirely different league.

Final Fantasy 7 for the first time ever, the original not the remake. Really a great game should have played it sooner. But I think I like FF IX and FF X still even more.

For the weekly GOL poll:
I played Divinity: OS 2, now that it runs well with proton. Really impressive game. First try in 2019 cost me 70+ hours, then it just used to crash in a bigger fight.
With the new Proton I played it through, it's 300+ hours now. Can't wait for Baldur's Gate 3 though I didn't play part 1 & 2. Larian will do this.

Can't remember who it was recently mentioned Killing Floor 2, but I downloaded all 80Gb of it and started levelling up my support perk again. Great game, but frustrating when to get a bad team. In KF1, healing your team mates was a given (healing others is like a 60% heal, while healing yourself is about 25%)... but in KF2, it just doesn't happen. Still enjoying it though. Amazing gunplay, very satisfying when you put it all together.
Otherwise, I'm on a three day break to the Borders right, so I'm on my laptop, and started playing Tales of Maj'Eyal again. Lots of nice QOL improvements, still the amazing, frustrating, epic experience I remember! Still my second most played game of all time too!

Alas, this past week has been little more than Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town (Switch) and The Last of Us: Part 2 (PS4). Think I'm coming to the end of the latter, so may have more time for Linux gaming next week...

Primordia: A real oldie, with an exceptional story. You play as a robot in a dystopian world and wonder, if robots were really created by man to maintain the world? Or is man is just a myth, an esoteric belief that a rational robot should ignore. (I confess, I am playing that one with a walkthrough, it is pretty hard and I play this one just for the story)I sort of stopped playing point & click games a while ago, but I did get this on GOG a few years ago. I really enjoyed the writing and art-style. You are right that it isn't particularly easy, so don't feel bad about using a walkthrough. I think I had to look up a couple things when I got stuck.
I think someone should grab this game writer and do a larger budget game in that world.

I finished the Fallout 4 main campaign last week!
... And, to my surprise, I still want to keep on playing. I totally expected to be done with it now, after all I'm closing in on 300 hours played now - but there's still some hours left in me for that game. Needless to say, I love Fallout.
