Stellaris: Necroids Species Pack announced, huge Paradox sale going on

By - | Views: 13,561

Paradox are set to return to my favourite grand strategy game, with the announcement of a brand new DLC coming to Stellaris with the Stellaris: Necroids Species Pack.

Right now Paradox are keeping all the details close and more will be revealed later. From what they said Stellaris players "will learn that death is not the end, but rather the beginning of their intergalactic journey as new changes reincarnate playthroughs of Stellaris for long time players, as well as bringing new undeath to established playtypes. To live amongst the Necroids, embracing death is not only encouraged, it’s required!".

They also summed up a bit of what's coming with it:

  • 15+1 new portraits (the +1 being machine)
  • 1 new Ship Set
  • 1 new City Set
  • 1 new Room background
  • 1 new Origin
  • 3 new Civics
  • 1 new pre-scripted Empire
  • 1 new Advisor Voice

Paradox also mentioned how they wanted their ships to look a little sinister, along with their portraits too, since the big theme here is death. While not undead or decaying, they wanted to give a pretty dark theme and they say that they've managed to make "something really great" with more details in future developer diaries.

You can wishlist and follow the Stellaris: Necroids Species Pack on GOG.com and Steam.

Additionally, they announced a massive sale is now live on Steam with the Paradox Interactive Strategy Weekend where you can find great discounts like:

This reminds me of the Necrons from Warhammer 40k universe, at least the style is pretty similar.

The only DLC for Stellaris that I require is not discounted. No surprise there!

Huh. I feel like I want to try playing Necroids but give them some totally enlightened traits--pacifistic, egalitarian, democratic Necroids, bringing peace, love (and death) to the galaxy.

I really love the Stellaris species portraits. They are diverse and imaginative and each has its own identity. I don't need animated 3D faces or long boxes of text for their lore - what I want is something that even at a quick glance makes the galaxy look full of alien life, and Stellaris does that really well.

I mean, me too, but it's a direct consequence - it is the one I need because the others were discounted and this was not (and it all comes from the fact it is the latest).

Interesting! I know after the Lithoids species pack some people have been asking for some sort of "Icthyoids", or aquatic-looking creatures, but I wouldn't have guessed this.
