The ending of another week is just about here, ready to begin anew. Before Monday comes knocking, it's time for the usual GOL community chat post.
For us over here at GOL, there's been plenty of Left 4 Dead 2 while we wait for the upcoming community expansion with The Last Stand. Our streamer Sin has been doing a bunch live on our Twitch Channel and it's been absolutely hilarious. Left 4 Dead 2 released around 11 years ago and it holds up incredibly well. Still hugely popular overall too, with it regularly pulling in close to around 20K players each day.
Personally, I've been torn between a few titles lately. Colmen's Quest turned out to be a pretty great turn-based RPG that sucked me in but looking after the bees in APICO has been absolute joy that I'm seriously excited to see what the developers do with further development to APICO. I've also attempted to learn some game development with GDevelop, which is a surprisingly versatile tool. You can really get going quickly with 2D games on it. I'm also personally very much looking forward to seeing Songs of Syx release in just over a week on September 21, bringing in another interesting city-builder with some grand strategy elements.
Over to you in the comments: what have you been playing? Is it good, is it terrible? Unload your thoughts.
Also switched my applications and WM from a dark to a light theme.
some Duke Nukem 3D
Hellbound wad for Doom 2 (with GZDoom)
Necromunda, runs well via Proton Eggrolls, and it’s fun enough to ignore the issue for now, but in mid/long term updates will be needed.
The great pity is that we cannot have a multiplayer game as that is sadly broken on linux.
I have also been logging in for a few Wargames in Interstellar Marines - scary robot time :). There are usually a couple of players around to team up with and a nice bunch they all seem to be.
Hope you get over your cold @scaine, VR is no fun is you have to keep blowing your nose.
The game is also sensitive to alt tabbing and tends to crash if switching multiple times, so if you're gonna play it just sit there and enjoy the game, forget multi tasking.

Bomberman Online - Stadia
I like this game so much. So far I've only been to 4th place. It feels like I playing the arcade version from the 90's.
Strange Brigade - Stadia
Been spending a few hours in horde mode with friends. The enemy variation is very fresh and the day light horror setting is a big plus for thos title. I've been very impressed by Rebellion's offering on Stadia. This game has been another great one.
Among US - itch.io
Got this game for free awhile back and my kids got on me to try it. Now their mom, me and few of us old timers are on there playing with everyone. Lots of great fun. The mini games do a great job of preventing bot cheaters.
Street Fighter III 3rd Strike - Fightcade
I have 16 irl friends back on Fightcade. Unless the next update to Tekken 7 fixes the net code, that game is going to be retired, uninstalled and hidden. Been a chore trying to get some good games going properly. But not with fightcade. Every fightcade match is perfect. My main is Ken but now I'm exploring Q.
Garou: Mark of the Wolves - Fightcade
SNK games always feel like home to me. This is one of the greatest fighting games of all time. Did about 6 hours of it on Saturday with my brothers and cousins and restarted some long time fueds. I main Terry and Freeman.

Tried Wonder Boy, the controls killed my fun and patience, one hour and it was uninstalled. Too bad, art is nice.
Finally, I've settled with Katamari Damacy rerolled, it's weird but it's fun and the soundtrack is unique.
Next, Dishonored 2 since I loved the first one.
an excellent concept set in a beautiful world built in an engine that only just manages to keep up. A horrible camera and trying-way-too-hard combat system *almost* get in the way of the story, which is superb. Very worth your time if you can find it on sale
Tried Mirror's Edge and repeatedly failed the tutorial (which did not surprise me at all. I'm horrible at platformers and not great at 1st person, and Edge is literally 100% fist person platforming)
Caught RUINER on Humble, which is a decent enough game with one of the best soundtracks ever. I've been listening to the artist -Sidewalks and Skeletons - almost non-stop for days.
Next up is Arkham City and Quantum Break
I also just bought A Plague Tale based on member recommendation

Quoting: TobyGornowI've finished A plague tale, technically & artistically it's astonishing.Loved it from start to finish.
Ooooh, I have been very tempted by that one. It looks amazing and I'm a total sucker for Bill Blake.
Ok, damnit. Sold.
And of course, became the most revived player in Left 4 Dead 2

Also, on last week "What have you been playing" thread, there was a discussion about Deus Ex games, and it made me want to play Deus Ex: Human Revolution which I did.. And I will probably start a new run of DE:MD too...
Turns out, it has... So I have been playing another playthrough on Era 2, and now I am in the middle of the Era 3 (it seems there are 5 eras... I guess there is only one way to find out )
Apart from that, it seems I ruined the boot section of my laptop, trying to install EndeavourOS. I get a strange Grub command line... The good news is, when typing exit, Windows proceeds to boot normally, so at least it is still usable.
See more from me
