Love a good superhero story? Well, this isn't it. Instead, you're a henchman following around a pretty clumsy supervillain in Henchman Story. A new and somewhat amusing visual novel currently in development by Silken Sail Entertainment, and they're currently funding it on Kickstarter.
"It’s thankless work. Week in and week out, you put on your purple spandex and get the crap beaten out of you by much stronger, much cooler people wearing much fancier spandex. But the checks clear, and Lord Bedlam offers healthcare, so a job’s a job, right?"
The crowdfunding campaign is trying to get $15,000 and they have until October 29 to hit it. You can check out their Kickstarter trailer below:

Feature Highlight:
- Superhero Satire - A comedic take on the world of superheroes that revels in the ridiculous nature of its setting, and showcases a colorful, comic book aesthetic.
- Colorful Characters - Find friends, enemies and even romance amongst a lively cast of villains, heroes and fellow henchmen.
- Meaningful Choices - Your decisions directly influence the story - leading to over a dozen endings, determining the fate of its characters, and if you play your cards right, you might even earn a promotion!
- Professional Voice Acting - Comedy is funnier with great delivery, and emotional moments hit harder with nuanced performances, which is why the full version Henchman Story will feature full voice acting on release performed by a talented cast that has been featured in anime, video games and more!
There's a demo available too, which seems to work great and going by the dialogue it seems like it's going to be pretty amusing if you love a good bit of super-comedy. They're building it with the tried and tested renpy, so Linux support shouldn't be a problem and it's one of their targets for release. Silken Sail Entertainment was founded by Marc Soskin, a writer and game designer who worked on titles like Lone Echo, ARK: Survival Evolved, Lost Within and The Outer Worlds.
You can find the demo on itch.io and Steam. For the Steam demo, run it directly from the .sh file in the installed folder, until they fix the launch configuration or just use it from itch.
