Scrabdackle is one game you really need to keep an eye on, an adventure following a novice wizard getting to know their own strange world for the first time.

Made in the awesome free and open source game engine Godot Engine, it's a 2D top-down hand-drawn action-adventure that focuses on exploration and combat. With some quirky humour, fun scribbly-line artwork that's super charming it's already got a lot to love about it.

Currently you can try out the free demo on itch.io which we wrote about back in September. Since then, the developer has put up a huge upgrade to the demo which expanded the content quite a lot. Some of what's new includes a fully developed village, a brand new hint feature, revamped conversations with a lot more personality, a more dynamic dialogue system and lots more little tech improvements. In terms of gameplay, it might not have a lot that's new but it looks and feels like a nice improvement and a good show of what's to come from the full game.

It also serves as a good reminder to try it out, and follow it along as it's coming to Kickstarter in 2021 and could end up being one of the most promising indie games next year. Do give it a go.

Try the demo on itch.io now.
