Need a new game? Here's one I can recommend without hesitation - Brigador: Up-Armored Deluxe and it's free to claim and keep for 72 hours.

Brigador is a game I've sunk a great many hours into, and I've written a few words here and there before about just how entertaining it is. An isometric rogue-lite with seriously intense combat, and plenty of fancy destruction as you can annihilate an entire city with your big mech or tank with customizable loadouts it's so much fun to blast through. Getting it free really is an absolute steal you shouldn't pass up.

Find the giveaway up on GOG.com, which is live until December 25 - 2PM UTC. Look for the big banner on GOG home page. The developer (Stellar Jockeys, Gausswerks) is also working on the next game in the series with Brigador Killers.

Why the giveaway? Well, that's because the GOG Winter Sale is still going on until January 4 and there's of course lots of juicy Linux games on sale. To save you an extra click, here's the essentials we recommended last time:

In related GOG news they now have the classics Heretic and HeXen up. While they only have Windows builds sorted, you can play some them with various open source game engines like GZDoom.

If you "agree to receive marketing" email spam, yes.
Which you can unsubscribe from whenever you want, and if that's the "price" you pay for getting an awesome game free - who really cares? It's a good deal.

Yes, which also amounts to signing up for an account. So, if you want to use GOG, then you are signing up for their promotional emails anyway. They don't spam you terribly badly. A few emails a month about sales, usually.

I don't blame anyone who wants to avoid being on their promotional spam list, but if you want to buy from them, you can't really avoid it, and they do offer DRM free downloads. Unfortunately, they don't have a Linux version of their management software, Galaxy.

Cool. I almost bought this at the last Steam sale, so I'm glad I didn't now. Thanks for another free addition to my game library GoG! You've kept my Animosity Meter (pat. pending) from falling into Bitter Hatred and lifted it to Cool Loathing. Way to go!

I'd look around for other games if I didn't have to open a link for every single one to find out the genre and, more specifically, the release date.

Strange, when I click on the Gog page banner, it forwards to the "On sale" game page. If I search for Brigador, I get a result of $8.99. I must be doing something wrong, although I've had no problem in the past with free Gog games.

HeXen 2 is too "modern" as it runs via .exe [also there is no .WAD file anyway so yeah] so for that one you have to use WINE.

I clicked on the countdown too first.

You have to scroll down on the main page then there is a link to claim Brigador.

Please, if you never tried the "Make fat money and commit war crimes" simulator, do so.

Brigador is amazing.

Sadly I have those others games, but now I need to scratch that Brigador itch again.

Tried Brigador. Crashes as soon as I start a mission.

Is there a way to set some decent resolution in it (or may be it can scale to some higher res without resorting to windowed mode or messing up the desktop by setting fullscreen to low ones)?

Also, I wish they supported a way to set custom user directory and also use XDG base dir spec. I'll probably write a patch, but Sourceforge? Who is using it these days?

I had the same "issue" with the Prison Architect giveaway. Wrote their support because of this but never got any response. And now i am feeling a bit ashamed.

Thank to your hint, i could at least grab Brigador for free. Thank you very much!

Thanks, I'll try with those params and will make a patch to be able to put the game in a specific location.
