It's been quite a while since we had a community chat post for Linux gaming, so let's get it going again: what have you been gaming on Linux lately?
There's so many games releasing all the time, along with cloud gaming very much being a thing that you can game across all sorts of Linux devices now. New isn't always better though of course and I often go back to the comfort of a few "safety" games that I know I will enjoy. Lately, that's been a likely unhealthy amount of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
With the latest Operation named Broken Fang, it pulled in the a Retakes game mode and I have to say, I have been enjoying that massively. It's much quicker to get through, with the T side planting the bomb as soon as a round starts. Smaller levels along with picking your loadout from cards, it really has mixed up how to play CS:GO for the better. The Wingman mode is also a huge amount of fun with quick 2v2 rounds. Well worth looking into if you've not played either modes.
Apart from that, I can't get away without mentioning Valheim, the singleplayer and co-op Viking survival game. It's simply brilliant. I've been happily playing it alone, as I'm just constantly discovering new things and it's a real joy while now and then hopping into the community-run GamingOnLinux servers (info in our Discord) to see what amazing creations people have done with the building tools.
Over to you in the comments: what's been pulling you in lately and are you enjoying it? Give over your latest recommendation to fellow readers.
- Valheim - addicting as hell
- Monster Sanctuary - fun story, easy to learn gameplay
- Space Haven - still working my way through the tutorial but it's fun so far
- Surviving Mars - also still in the tutorial, but it's city building on Mars, what's not to love?
- Albion Online - it's a damn love-hate relationship with this game for years
Got stuck on a boss fight in Vampyr so took a bit of a break and tried out Bloodborne and ended up almost platinuming it so I guess back to Vampyr soon! Might be worth it to restart it since I got a handle on how leveling works.

Quoting: RoosterQuoting: psy-qBlazed through Dark Souls 3 .
One does not simply blaze thorough Dark Souls.
Unless one plays pyromancer.
I've also decided to stop buying games, probably for the year. I have so many, I really don't need anymore. My only exception would be if it was something I would play immediately. (For example, a DLC to a game im
currently playing). My personal bet is that I have plenty to keep me occupied for a long time to come.
Ni no Kuni™ II: Revenant Kingdom. Kind of boring and repetitive. Characters' voices hurt my ears.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. Exactly the same CoD4 but with better graphics. It's very unstable, crashes too much, and when a new level is loading for the first time, it takes up to 10 minutes for compiling shaders. But at least it perform at 120+ FPS with no hiccups or freezes, unlike CoD WWII. Don't buy it for the multiplayer mode though, because it's dead.
Castle In The Darkness. At first glance it looks like a generic 8-bit platformer with mediocre pixel art, but in fact it's a well-made game with good gameplay, humour and lots of secrets. It very cheap at this moment on the Steam sale. Warning: use Proton 3.16, and there's no controller support (so use AntiMicroX as well).
Also, on my FreeBSD laptop with Fermi graphics, I've been spending a lot of time with Horizon Chase Turbo, Major Mayhem, Sky Force Anniversary and Sky Force Reloaded. Steam on FreeBSD works great btw, has Proton support too, but since Fermi doesn't support Vulkan, I need to stick to native OpenGL titles.
