FTL mixed with a little colony management and a brutal difficulty, that seems like what you get with the space survival adventure game Derelict Void that's out now.

Manage a ship, its crew and scavenge for resources while you fight the ruthless and unforgiving nature of the game that sees you learn as you go and die often. Originally funded on Kickstarter, a campaign we seemed to entirely miss that didn't actually say it was coming to Linux but here it is.

  • Story - It must have been an accident. An entire star system’s worth of ships have abruptly been torn away from the universe they knew. It’s up to you to salvage the remnants of civilization.
  • Damaged and disoriented, can you and your crew scrape together enough of civilization to survive?
  • Explore - Navigate through procedurally generated treacherous debris and stranded ships to discover the secrets of the void. How did this happen? What else might lurk in this debris field? Can you find a way back?
  • Take Risks -- Take risks and make the right choices to survive.
  • Help others stranded in the void, or leave them behind to save yourselves. Make stops to scavenge for supplies, or burn the resources you have to gain speed. Choose wisely, or fall victim to the void.
  • Survive - Managing resources is critical to your ship’s survival.
  • Salvage supplies to expand your ship, feed your crew, manage morale on board. You’ll have to balance it all to keep the ship going for another day.
  • Optimize - As more survivors join the craft, only a robust network of factories can sustain them.
  • Puzzle your way to victory - how many can you save?

Now that it's out following the crowdfunding campaign in late 2020, the reviews on it are a bit mixed. It seems the brutal challenge and RNG have been putting some off with it on a Mostly Positive user rating overall on Steam/

You can buy it on Steam.

This looks fun. You know what would be killer, is something like Valheim... but in space. I guess Avorion seems like a good candidate for that. But I'm trying to get into that, and building every tiny little block of my spaceship seems a little tedious.
