Top-down open-source racing? Yorg is a little bit like some of the classic Micro Machines games and while rough around the edges as it's in development it's showing promise as another FOSS game.

With fast arcade racing along with some amusing physics, Yorg is already a lot of fun with multiple tracks, vehicles and different drivers to pick from. You can play against AI, local multiplayer and experimental online multiplayer. There's weapons too, so you can blow everyone up.

The latest release Yorg 0.11.1 expands the gamepad input support, cleans up the UI somewhat and the camera should feel a lot better during races. Plenty of bug fixes went into this release to improve the AI, reduce CPU usage, improve the audio and multiplayer and so on.

Hopefully more players and developers will pick it up, we can always use more good free and open source games.

Find it on the official site and itch.io.

Hi Julius,

Looks like it's an AppImage. So you would need to install the AppImage service in Manjaro:
sudo pacman -S appimagelauncher

and launch it.

Enjoy!

Hmm, that doesn't seem to be the case either. In fact it does seem to be some sort of installation script after all.

I guess it depends where you are downloading from...from their website's downloads, it appears to be an appimage file. I haven't checked itch and indiedb...

Installing through the itch app was only a couple of clicks. Seems to work just fine.

If you don't want to use the itch app, download the yorg-0.11.1-linux_amd64 installer package from https://ya2.itch.io/yorg and run it. You'll need to set the executable bit for the file, but itch tells you how on the download page.

EDIT: Well, it works fine until I try to enable full screen or antialiasing, at which point it crashes to desktop.

You only have to give execution rights to the downloaded archive, and double click on it, Then you will see an easy installer. I don't see any problem

Sure enough, I just tried it again and it works. Same version of the game and nothing changed in my system either. Maybe restarting the itch app did it? Strange...
