Need the absolute latest special fixes? The developer-focused NVIDIA Vulkan Beta Driver 455.50.10 has rolled out and it includes quite a few fixes - including some just for Linux.

Here's the fixes:

  • Fixed an issue with vkCmdSetViewport when firstViewport is non-zero
  • Fixed a memory fault when using some smaller dimensions of sparse images
  • Fixed an issue where vkCreate{Graphics,Compute}Pipeline would sometimes crash when the shaders contained resources with no set/binding
  • Fixed corruption that sometimes occured with shadow rendering with image arrays
  • Fixed a bug with the host-visible device-local memory heap, where if an allocation failed due to space constraints, it could cause the application to crash on future Vulkan function calls
  • Fixed a potential crash when clearing images with multiple layers
  • Fixed a bug where using ray tracing extensions on multi-GPU setups could result in application instability if the GPUs did not match [Linux]
  • Fixed a bug where vkCreateSwapchain could cause the X Server to crash when an invalid imageFormat was provided [Linux]

Reminder: This special Vulkan beta driver is where all the shiny new stuff goes in before making its way into the stable release for everyone. Really, it's mostly aimed at developers and serious enthusiasts. Unless you need what's in them, it's generally best to use the stable drivers.

The newest stable versions of the main NVIDIA driver for Linux are at 460.56 released on February 25, 2021 from their "Production Branch" series or 455.45.01 released on October 17, 2020 from their "New Feature" series. Confused? It's a lot of numbers to remember but both Production and New Feature series are fine for normal use.

Dear Dr. Breen, why have the "NVIDIA" seen fit to suppress our reproductive cycle? Sincerely, a Vulkan Citizen.

So what you are showing here is we need more RTX birthing pods to stop the GPU shortage? Ha!
