Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun was one of the best games from 2016 easily, it helped to revive a classic style of tactical stealth games and it's coming back with Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun - Aiko's Choice.
This is a standalone expansion from the same developer, Mimimi Games. Now they're finished with Desperados III they've come back to their first proper hit. Set in Japan around the Edo period, you take control of kunoichi adept Aiko and her deadly assassin friends to hunt down the ghosts of her past. Check out the teaser below:

Mimimi said in an email that "It has always been the team's dream to revisit our real-time tactics baby Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun at some point in the future. Since we had a bit of time between the Desperados III launch and the Codename Süßkartoffel kick off, we thought: It's now or never!".
Features:
- Return to the beautiful world of Shadow Tactics set in Japan, early Edo period.
- Rejoin your favorite characters for one final adventure set within the story of the main game Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun.
- Experience a previously untold tale centered around the kunoichi adept Aiko, who has to face a vicious enemy connected to her past.
- Explore three fully fledged main missions, located in brand-new environments, and three shorter interlude missions.
The expansion includes all the features of the main game:
- Play a team of completely different characters with their unique skill sets.
- Synchronize your team's actions to strike down your enemies at once with the "Shadow Mode" feature.
- Choose between non-lethal or deadly stealth attacks.
- Find dozens of ways to take out or sneak past your opponents the way you want.
- Choose from three difficulty levels to match your skill.
This time around it's going to be "PC exclusive" initially supported on Windows and they confirmed they are "also planning to add Linux (32-bit, like the original release)". So that's good news for us that they still plan to continue their Linux support. You can read more on why no macOS or console release here.
It has a Steam page up to follow along for release later this year.
Although I do not understand why they insist on just 32 bit for Linux. 64 bit has been around for ages
EDIT: Was able to make the game recognize the controller, I just had to enable XOW compatibility mode (by editing xow.service) and after the reboot the controller was detected as a 360 pad

Quoting: DaiKaiser93Does anyone know how to get the original game to recognize a Xbox One Controller?I haven't played it in a while, but I played almost all of it on a XBone controller via the Steam Link. I don't recall having to do anything special to get that working.
Quoting: toojaysI got up to the last or second to last mission in the original, must go and finish it off sometime. It's an excellent game.I'm playing the GOG version, no worries I managed to make it work.

How was the game for everyone else?
Quoting: ixnariI tried playing Shadow Tactics a while back. I was having fun right up until mission 5 or so (the one with Hayato and Yuki), then I found myself saving every other minute, because the slightest misstep resulted in a mission failure. It felt like I was supposed to progress throught the mission in a very specific way, leaving little room for creativity and improvisation.

It felt that there was at least a couple of ways to solve most missions. The game got very difficult at the end, and in a mix of my lack of patience and that I'm not good with tactical games, in the last two missions had to use a guide.

You always have options, but yes saving every 5 seconds is pretty normal, lol

That is the reason why the standalone expansion is not going to be released on Mac and consoles; they demand 64 bit builds whereas Linux and Windows are just fine with 32 bit. So, they won't need to invest the game engine upgrade for 64 bit, instead focus on game development with existing 32 bit engine.
