A small stable update is out for NVIDIA users with a new driver 465.27 that rolled out on April 29 adding support for new laptop cards and some bug fixes.
It adds support for:
- T600 Laptop GPU
- T1200 Laptop GPU
- RTX A5000 Laptop GPU
- RTX A4000 Laptop GPU
- RTX A3000 Laptop GPU
- RTX A2000 Laptop GPU
Along with these bug fixes:
- Fixed a bug that could prevent a system from resuming from suspend when DisplayPort activity occurred while the system was suspended.
- Fixed a regression that prevented eglQueryDevicesEXT from correctly enumerating GPUs on systems with multiple GPUs where access to the GPU device files was restricted for some GPUs.
- Fixed a regression that could cause system hangs when changing display resolution on SLI Mosaic configurations.
- Fixed a bug that could result in blank displays when driving multiple displays at the same resolution using active DisplayPort dongles.
It's part of their stable "New Feature Branch" so you should be all good to upgrade to it, as this is a properly supported driver version. See more on the NVIDIA driver page. Don't forget the recent driver security issues, so do make sure you're up to date!
We're excitedly awaiting the NVIDIA 470 series some time this year, which should add in the expected support for hardware accelerated XWayland.,

When it came to NVIDIA and Ubuntu I always just downloaded latest driver off their website and installed that instead of waiting on some repo update.

On Ubuntu 465.24.02 is available via the PPA but it seems to be missing 32bit and then Steam crashes.
I reverted back to 460 and Steam opened again (to continue it's download of Metro Exodus).
