Thunder Lotus have announced that their wonderful game Spiritfarer has hit 500K sales, making it their most successful title to date and The Lily Update has been released.

This update might be small overall but an important one. It brings in the new character, Lily the Butterfly Spirit, who guides you through several scenes which are supposed to "add depth and detail to the main character Stella’s story" and there's improvements for local co-op and bug fixes too. Sounds like a really great update to such a unique story and gameplay experience. If you've not played it: you guide spirits of the deceased, you are their ferrymaster and look after them before they go to the afterlife.

From the press release:

“As ever, the updates we’re bringing to Spiritfarer this year are all about the fans – those who helped make this our studio’s most popular game ever” says Spiritfarer Creative Director Nicolas Guérin. “We wanted to keep the Lily Update small, to address the single most common feedback we’ve received from players since launch: fans want to know more about Stella and what, ultimately, her quest is about. It’s the emotional core of the game, so we wanted to get it right; Lily offers a sweet and personal window onto who Stella is, and we hope the players like what we’ve done with this update. The 500,000 units milestone is huge for us, and felt like a fitting time to add Lily – meanwhile, we’re putting the finishing touches on the more gameplay-heavy updates to come. Stay tuned!”

Note: the Linux version on Steam has a delayed update, the GOG version is up to date.

You can buy Spiritfarer on GOG, itch.io, Steam and Stadia.
