For quite some time now, there's been a few troubles for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Linux with players Trust Factor being severely reduced. Now though, it looks to be finally solved.

Going back since at least January 2021, users have been reporting an issue with Mesa drivers (Intel / AMD GPUs) that has seen their CS:GO Trust Factor drop sharply. This is unrelated to another issue that appeared recently, where practically Linux and macOS players Trusted Mode didn't seem to be working - which was quickly solved by Valve.

People speculated on what the cause was, which caused the Mesa driver developers to end up disabling "glthread" (OpenGL multithreading) for CS:GO. Thankfully though, it looks like Valve have managed to actually solve the root cause of the issue.

A user posted on the bug report to note they emailed Gabe Newell, and got a response from another Valve developer Ido Magal to mention "We've found the underlying issue and believe it is fixed. Please confirm.". Since then, it seems multiple people have confirmed their Trust Factor is now back to normal.

Nice to see Valve continue to work on their Linux ports and keep them running nicely. This one sure took a while though but it's very pleasing to see considering how many gamers it affected.

You can play CS:GO free on Steam.

Well that explains why after switching from an nvidia card to AMD it takes over an hour to join a Blacksite Danger Zone game that ends up being nearly all hackers.

*EDIT* Tested it out and I can now instantly get into a Danger Zone game that doesn't appear to be all hackers. Hurray

I've been struggling with this exact problem after i switched to AMD. Its a relief to hear that something has been done to it. Now, if it actually solves things for good or not is left to be seen.
I stay hopeful for it though since having cheaters in almost every match caused me to drop the game for a while.

I hope this fix doesn't mean a possible exploit in the trust factor, but I'm glad they finally fix it.

Valve is fantastic, but the way that it keep things in the obscurity is bizarre.

I'm following this from the beginning, it's frustrating that everything is a supposition. They supposedly fixed a supposed issue which supposedly is on Mesa.

Yeah, that intransparent thing can really be confirmed by the user? WTF? Valve should confirm this. I can not see my trust factor. I can just guess that it is bad, when the match is full of hackers.

What about gamemode btw? There were rumors, that it hits the trustfactor too, because of library preload.
