After a new shiny pre-built desktop PC built for Linux support? UK-based Entroware are back again after the recent Proteus laptop reveal with their new Poseidon desktop. This is their new top-end model built for "Every Linux Professional".

Not exactly built for gamers mind you, however, don't let that stop you. The point here is it's another Linux vendor putting out a new model that might work out a little easier for you than slotting it all together from parts, along with having someone to fallback on if it doesn't work right. The Poseidon does not come with a dedicated GPU either, it's a bring-you-own graphics card box although you do get Intel UHD Graphics as standard with the CPU options.
Even if you don't have a GPU ready, those Intel UHD Graphics actually pack a nice little punch so you should be able to play quite a few with them.

As for the case used, it looks like one of the Define series from Fractal Design. Notably, Entroware do not seem to state anywhere what specific case is used with this model. It's a damn nice case though, and with the sound dampening it might help give you a little peace from all the ticking and whirring while you're working and gaming. Update 01/06/21: Entroware replied to mention the case used is the "Fractal Design FD-CA-DEF-C-BK" and as for the power supply they said "this will vary between different Corsair, EVGA, and Cooler Master units depending on what we stock at that time, we do not provide specific models" so they are using good vendors at least.
The price starts at £759.99 with either Ubuntu 20.04 LTS or Ubuntu MATE 20.04 LTS available pre-installed. Check out the Poseidon on the Entroware website.

At this point Purism; System76; Star Labs all offer core boot options on some of their systems. Retro Freedom; Vikings and Techoethical offer me Libreboot. Think Penguin tests their systems on FLOSS distros such as Trisquel so I know they work with that. Raptor Computing and SiFive offer me non X86 options such as Risc-V and Power9. Framework offers me the ability to swap dongles. Entroware doesn't offer me any of those which leaves them in no mans land for me.

I completly agree about the cost of Power9 being out of most peoples budgets (incuding my own) but at the end of the day if I want off of this x86 closed source vulnerability ride that never ends then I can go with Power9 or RISC-V. I plan to do both eventually. Won't be any time soon but as soon as I can save up the $5000 i'll need then i'd buy a Talos II from Raptor in an instant. It will be easier to get a HiFive Unmatched to get a RISC-V system going as that will only cost me $1000.

Fractal Design just makes VERY nice cases. It's what all my future builds will use, I think. I used to do Antec, but they've seemingly have gotten worse lately.
Ha, my last build was with a cooler master (Q300P), but it had... Cooling issues, and wasn't as small as I thought for a micro ATX build. Will definitely look at them for my next one, in a few years... Or at least read reviews more attentively.
