After being in Beta since February, Team Cherry have released a free upgrade to Hollow Knight so it should continue running nicely for years to come.

They've supported it amazingly well since the original release, with it gaining multiple entirely free big expansions including Godmaster, Lifeblood, The Grimm Troupe and Hidden Dreams. Together they added in new characters, new quests, new boss fights, new music and much more. The game is pretty huge now.

"Forge your own path in Hollow Knight! An epic action adventure through a vast ruined kingdom of insects and heroes. Explore twisting caverns, battle tainted creatures and befriend bizarre bugs, all in a classic, hand-drawn 2D style."

The update v1.5.68.11808 is out now, here's some of what's new:

- Added "Borderless" option to fullscreen in video options
- 64-bit is now required (For players with 32-bit computers the previous version (1.4.3.2) can still be accessed as a beta)
- Vulkan is now the default graphics API for Linux
- Enabled controller rumble (only supported for certain configurations, e.g. Xbox One controller on Windows)
- Hopefully less hitching, and less memory usage on startup (enabled incremental GC, removed heap size increase method)
- Reduced screen tearing during screen shakes
- Grimm chest reward is now left on the ground if you banish him without collecting it
- Sideways dash is now preferred when Dashmaster is equipped (less accidental down dashing!)
- Crystal Guardian will now wake up when damaged by area attacks (Spore Shroom, etc)

There's also numerous bug fixes that should make the experience smoother.

Since they're likely using the same game engine for the upcoming Hollow Knight: Silksong, it's likely this is all helping towards it since they're going to be quite similar.

You can buy Hollow Knight from Humble Store, GOG and Steam.

Played this game on Linux with a DS4. Latency is a grave issue with DS4 on Linux I wasn't able to solve. I'll play again on windows at a later date.

Sorry Linux, you need to create a STANDARD for how thinks works to ensure low latency at all times. Before that, I'll stick with windows that already STANDARDIZE that.

That's weird, I finished the entire game with a DS4 as well and I had no latency issue. Nor with any other games. Now I play with my DualSense controller and that works perfectly too.

Cool. There's been quite a bit of DLC released since I first played through this awesome game. Seems like a good time to give it a replay!

Finished the Game with Steam Controller over Bluetooth on my Linux Laptop. Okay, I'm still missing the "right" ending. But that definitely has nothing to do with Linux and latency. Except the latency in my brain. :)

Too bad it doesn't work for you.

When compared to windows, DS4 on Linux is consistently worser. I don't know why. It just is.

You don't happen to use it via the old ds4drv "driver"?

Like others, I've been using DS4 on Linux for years. No latency issues. You're the only one in this thread who seems to have a problem with it ma dude. And are bashing Linux with non-sensical arguments in the process. I smell a troll.

If you're serious about this, you can provide you can create a thread about it in the Tech forums (provide your technical details if you do so). I'm sure quite a few people here including me will do their best to help you.

To be honest, it already worked perfectly fine with OpenGL on my humble laptop with Intel integrated graphics. But it's still nice to see them adding the Vulkan support as Vulkan is the future, and it probably means the sequel will come with Vulkan on Linux by default.
I love Hollow Knight, and I'm really glad they are still supporting it with updates.

I'm another one without latency issues with a DS4. Managed to finish Cyber Shadow (a notorious rage quit game) with it, for example.

The only Bluetooth issue for me, is that the Xbone controller stopped working via BT after that security issue (with BT) was fixed. But it works fine with the original MS wireless adapter.

It has been 20 days since the update released. It still isn't on GOG.
