The Wine hackers have today popped open another bottle to let it breathe for a bit, with the development build Wine 6.14 now available for testing.

For newer readers and Linux users here's a refresher - Wine is a compatibility layer built for operating systems like Linux, macOS and BSD. The idea is to allow other platforms to run games and applications only built and supported for Windows. It's also part of what makes up Steam Play Proton. Once a year or so, a new stable release is made.

As of Wine 6.14 here's what's new:

  • Mono engine updated to version 6.3.0, with upstream updates.
  • 32->64-bit thunks implemented in WOW64 dll.
  • More preparation work for the GDI syscall interface.

This time around 30 bugs were noted as being solved. Usual here applies: some bugs were fixed previously, some only recently. Bugs fixed include issues sorted out for: WWE 2K15, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Pro Evolution Soccer 2019, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, Space Engineers, GRID Autosport, Fallout: New Vegas, Star Citizen, World of Warcraft, Grand Theft Auto V, Sea of Thieves, EVE Online, Dead Rising and more.

Enjoy your Wine-filled weekend, please game responsibly.

So.... do you have a document in which you just record all the Wine puns and references, and in 10 years time you'll publish a book "The 500 best wine puns - Uncorked edition"?

Cause that's what I'd do.
