Short on time and want to play a game? Swallow the Sea is a good choice and it's free so you've got nothing to lose for trying to except perhaps a little of your sanity.

We briefly covered it back in 2020 when it was only available on itch.io but now it's also on Steam. You're in for quite a ride on this one. It only lasts about 10-15 minutes but it's wild and the design plus the sound work is absolutely brilliant.

"You are a lowly egg cell on a journey through a swollen sea of strange and humanoid fish. Prey on smaller life and growing larger and stronger to perhaps someday be born."

It's not something you're likely to play more than once but that's not really the point. Still, it would be nice to see this design expand into a bigger game. Feels like it deserves an expanded experience. This is the same developer who also made Perfect Vermin, another short and totally weird (but good) experience.

Play free on itch.io and Steam.

It's quite fun to see developers having some crazy notion for a game and going all in, making an actual product of it, no matter how short it is instead of just shelving the idea for later project that may never be.

Also, "short and somewhat disturbing"? <michael scott>That's what she said!</michael scott>

I always felt the Osmoslike genre really needed that little something else to catch & keep my attention, and teeth + guts are certainly something else!
