The first PC release from Mousetrap Games is JARS, a blending of a Tower Defense game with puzzles to solve and a pretty great looking gothic style.

JARS tells the story of Victor, who is asked to get a jar of pickles from the cellar for his mother. After he discovers a mysterious sarcophagus, crawly creatures emerge from the other jars in the basement, and Victor has to fight them in order to protect his ominous find. In this strategic tower defense game, Victor makes use of minions and items to break all jars and defeat their inhabitants. Not only that but it seems Dracula is hiding in the basement too so he needs to find out why, figure out why some pages are missing from a mysterious book and hopefully not get grounded by his mother.

Features:

  • A strategy game featuring puzzles and elements of tower defense: Break all the jars and protect the Sarcophagus – that's your main goal!
  • A distinct art style inspired by spooky and funny classics: Hand-drawn mouldy horror with a dose of humour
  • Randomization and adaption: You can never be certain what is inside a jar, therefore you have to adapt to new mechanics and situations.

This one piques my interest. I've always liked Tower Defence games, and this is a interesting variation implementing new ideas into that genre.
