You may want to set aside some money and fill up that Steam Wishlist, as the next couple of big sale events now have their dates confirmed.

Instead of some kind of leak like what happened in previous years, Valve themselves are just giving out the dates to those who know where to look. On the Steamworks Documentation website, Valve has listed these sales:

  • Steam Halloween Sale - Oct 28 - Nov 1, 2021
  • Steam Autumn Sale - Nov 24 - 30, 2021
  • Steam Winter Sale - Dec 22, 2021 - Jan 5, 2022

Of course these are only the main Steam events. You can still expect to see daily and weekly deals, publisher events and all the usual extra sales that Valve allow during and in between these times.

I'm tempted to finally see what all the fuss is about with NieR:Automata with Proton or maybe get sucked into Wasteland 3. Then again, I might also build up my collection of VR games as there's quite a few that look good like Blade and Sorcery. What are you hoping will have a good discount?

Oh yeah, NieR Automata... I should get around to playing that again and actually finishing it. The original game is my favourite game of all time (remake is even better, except for a few choices in the new audio), and Automata just didn't feel right to me, but I definitely want to give it another go.

As far as discounts that I want go, well, my wishlist is long, but mostly not a priority, so I'm looking for really deep discounts on most of it. The new Myst remake is the one I think I'd most like at this point, to play with my son, but it's still too new to expect something like 50% off, I suspect.

Must... resist.. pile... so big...
Well, I do have 212 titles on my wishlist, among the higher priced titles are Detroid: Become Human, Sea of Thieves, The Medium, World War Z: Aftermath, Death Loop. If they get a discount, maybe I'll snag the one or the other.

I'm hoping Mass Effect: Legendary Edition goes on sale soon.

I have about just enough money in my Steam wallet to buy it, provided the discount it receives is no smaller than the previous one (so 34% off would suffice).

Once again, I'll buy several games on sale, but will end up playing some FOSS games instead :-D

They dropped Denuvo from this title a month or so ago, so I'd happily pick it up too. Also got my eye on that star wars game where you play a ginger dude. Probably the closest to a "scottish" jedi I'm gonna get!

Weirdness with NieR:Automata. I completed it as was with no mods and hugely enjoyed it. Reinstalled at least a week after the 'amazing new patch' had officially landed and it was.... exactly the same game. Exactly the same. Was profoundly disappointed. But also fine, cos it meant I had no reason to play it again.

I have exactly 11,67€ saved in my Steam wallet for just this occasion! I sold all those little trading card thingies Valve have persistently foisted on me over the last ten or so years.

Wonder how much it will get me during a sale? 20 games? 25?

Obi-Wan was Scottish until Anakin's transition to Darth Vader inexplicably made him English.

All the games on my wishlist have been there for 4+ years because the prices are never reduced more than 50-60% and the base base prices have not changed either. I'm waiting for a 75% deal before I would even consider buying them.
