The Long Dark - Episode Four is out now

By -

Hinterland has released Episode Four "Fury, Then Silence" of The Long Dark story mode getting one step closer to reaching the conclusion with big updates planned in future.

"A murderous gang of convicts have captured Mackenzie. Desperate to escape one of the darkest corners of Great Bear Island, he must somehow survive his fiercest enemy yet. Can Mackenzie recover the Hardcase, continue his search for Astrid, and save the innocents caught up in this deadly confrontation?"

Their attention now moves onto the final part of the story with no ETA, along with an upcoming update to the Survival Mode and modding support also planned to come at some point.

If you've been playing through the story mode, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments. Last I properly tried it the experience due to the survival element was quite brutal. The Long Dark is definitely one of the more difficult survival games even in the story mode.

You can buy The Long Dark from Humble Store and Steam. The price has also now been bumped up to £27.79 / $34.99 / €29.99 with all the extra content that has arrived it still easily seems worth the price.

I do agree that the wilderness is harsh. I remember that throwing stones was bit challenging, which meant that getting food wasn't easy. On top of that you really have to keep eye on things. Cooking and boiling water is hard, like in real life

I wonder if I'll still get this on GOG. They committed to keeping it up to date on GOG, even though they've chosen to not sell it there anymore. So far they've done pretty good.
