It's that time of the year again. It's getting cold outside, dark and so you should keep warm with some new games. The Steam Autumn Sale 2021 is up.
You know the drill, you probably have a Wishlist stocked full of interesting games but for those who don't we have a couple of items you should take a look at including:
- Stellaris for your grand-strategy, and a big patch + DLC out now - 75% off
- Unrailed! for some truly hilarious co-op fun - 70% off
- Wasteland 3 gives you plenty of choices and a new historical discount - 67% off
- Monster Sanctuary has plenty of creatures to find and add to your collection - 66% off
-
Metro Exodus for your post apocalyptic FPS needs - 60% off
- Space Haven continues being a brilliant sci-fi building sim - 35% off
- Roguebook is colourful, inviting and has a lot of cards for deck-building - 30% off
- Valheim not a big discount but still one of the best this year - 20% off
We also have some other suggestions that work well with Steam Play Proton include:
- Prey - 75% off
- Death Stranding (I'll have a lot more to say on this one soon…) - 70% off
- Deep Rock Galactic - 50% off
- Satisfactory - 30% off
If you find a really delicious deal you think others need to pick up and play, do let your fellow readers know in the comments. We're always eager to know what you plan to pick up!
The Steam Awards are officially opening for Nominations today too, so you can go ahead and pick what you really enjoyed and hopefully they will be in the running with enough votes. The winners get announced on January 3, 2022.
DOOM Eternal at 75% off - I think this works fine on Proton, highly recommended.
Prey - not the lowest it's ever been (& it's frequently on sale), but I'd recommend getting it all the same. Same with Dishonored 1 & 2 (80% off).
I voted Valheim as best game of the year! sooo much fun, hope it wins.Despite what they call it, the games that win are never very Goaty. Now Goat Simulator, that was Goaty.

I might go with that. Though I haven't played in a while as I have to go and get my stuff back. Maybe some day I'll get around doing that
I'm not yet sure about rest of the categories yet. I guess it's good excuse to buy one or two more games released this year.
I was thinking of GOTY, often used for Game Of The Year.I thought that GOAT meant Greatest of all time, you really think that Valheim is GOAT?? unless there is another meaning I'm unaware of.I voted Valheim as best game of the year! sooo much fun, hope it wins.Despite what they call it, the games that win are never very Goaty. Everything else can wait for the Winter Sale.
Valheim was the only game I played that was released this year, apparently, so it got my vote.
I think Cyberpunk 2077 is in my future.
WH40000 Space Marine works out of the box!
Sadly, the price is expensive for an old game. (at least here in Argentina with our 65% tax)
I remain disproportionally irritated that discounts are given as '-n% off', which means a price increaseGood news: here it's a hyphen rather than a minus sign - it says "<game> - n% off" rather than "-n% off" - and on Steam it just says -n%. So you don't need to be annoyed.

This helps. A lot. Thank you
In this sale, I have just picked some DLC for Warhammer 40K Gladius: Relics of War; I have been really enjoying it. (Actually it went on sale yesterday due to release of a new DLC and I got it then, but it's the same). I would also recommend Northgard (my favorite RTS) and Monster Sanctuary (a very good, if difficult, creature collector+metroidvania).
Although I'm a bit hesitant to recommend a Supergiant game after how they treated Linux with Hades, fact is, Pyre is my second favorite game of all time, so it is hard not to recommend it.
And who knows, with Steam Deck coming, if enough people buy Pyre, maybe Supergiant will actually do a Linux version for their next game (although I doubt it)

can you run Dishonored 2 just fine in Proton? because I have weird problems with mouse look and been waiting for a Proton version that would fix it.. (I've tried so many wines and protons..)
the problem is, mouse look sometimes get stuck.. laggy.. cannot turn, or it jumps. I read somewhere it has maybe something to do with fps lock or something, don't know. it's a shame, since I really liked the first game, and been anxious to play this one but haven't gotten very far as it's very frustrating..

On ProtonDB, someone recently suggested running the game with Proton-6.9-GE-2 and some extra tweaks, have you tried that?

I would recommend Prey, too. I'm halfway through the game, it runs flawlessly with Proton. Great story and gameplay!
gah.
I gave up on Prey close to the end. There was yet another bloody keycard to find. I hunted for literal hours. Eventually looked up a walkthrough and even with that I just could not find it.
I really wanted to love the game but it was just way too frustrating. Hope you have a better time with it
And a new Proton version is officially here: 6.3-8

Why would you complain about 65% tax when you have a Che profile pic? Unless the pic is ironic?

hmm, I tried that now that you mentioned.. it's the same. I also tried all the availble launch option.. mouse look still seems to get stuck at times.. especially when enemies are near. otherwise the game works just fine and runs fast and smooth.. also mouse is smooth when it works. weird thing. :(
