A fresh month has arrived and so it brings with it a new Humble Choice, the curated monthly bundle along with a few other game bundles to go over. Here's a roundup of how they all work on Linux either natively or with Steam Play Proton.

First up is Humble Choice for December. Here you pay for whatever tier you feel is the best value to get access to the Humble Trove (a ton of DRM-free games), a discount at the Humble Store and the ability to claim Steam keys (sometimes GOG keys) for multiple titles - the amount of which depends on what tier you buy into.

Here's what's in it and how they run:

  • 8Doors: Arum's Afterlife Adventure - works with Proton
  • Beyond The Wire - doesn't work on Linux due to issues with Easy Anti-Cheat
  • Endzone - A World Apart - works with Proton but big performance hit
  • Fling to the Finish - works with Proton
  • Greak: Memories of Azur - works with Proton
  • Lacuna – A Sci-Fi Noir Adventure - works with Proton
  • Maneater - works with Proton, performance can be an issue
  • MORDHAU - works with Proton
  • Partisans 1941 - works with Proton
  • The Survivalists - works with Proton
  • TOHU - works with Proton but likely needs Proton GE for cutscenes
  • Voidigo - works with Proton

Also new is the Dangerous Worlds bundle that includes:

  • 50% off Kingdom Two Crowns: Norse lands
  • Among Us - works with Proton
  • Generation Zero - works with Proton
  • Kingdom New Lands - Linux native
  • Kingdom Two Crowns - Linux native
  • Lemnis Gate - doesn't work on Linux due to Easy Anti-Cheat
  • State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition - works with Proton, multiplayer not tested

The Batman Collection is another:

  • Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition - works with Proton, may needs some manual adjustments according to ProtonDB reports
  • Batman: Arkham City - Game of the Year Edition - works with Proton
  • Batman: Arkham Knight - works with Proton
  • Batman: Arkham Origins - works with Proton
  • Batman: Arkham VR - works with Proton
  • LEGO Batman: The Videogame - works with Proton
  • LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes - works with Proton with a small tweak via ProtonDB
  • LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham - works with Proton

For me the itch.io bundles have been excellent. Especially with the bundles where you can pick and choose what to add to your library.

I'm normally really supportive of even the worst Humble Choice months... but this is honestly the worst Choice bundle I've ever seen. The "star" of the show is presumably Mordhau, a game with a reputation for its toxic community... nope.

I'll pass this month, which I think is my first pass this year, actually, so I can't complain too hard.

Yeah it's been a while that it was a real "wow". But at least this months choice is better than the last few (although i'm still skipping i think). Hopefully this trend continues ^^

State of Decay 2 is really fun in coop, they recently added a map from the first game.

It's true I can't remember last time I did not skip...
