While we sit and attempt to wait patiently for the Steam Deck to arrive next year after the delay, Valve has given out some fresh shots of their new Design Validation (DV) units.
Moving on from the initial EV2 prototype units that were sent out as devkits, DV is the last prototyping stage before it all moves into full production. There has been changes since the EV2 version of the Steam Deck, although Valve hasn't specified exactly what - it's still good news to know they've been so thoroughly tested now. As part of this process, Valve are testing their packaging too so they've given out a bunch of shots on it.

Nice. Hope that the changes are the self tapping screws. And probably I'll find a screen protector, even with the case shouldn't be a problem.

Emphasis mine. Yeah, exactly this. It feels like time as slowed since original announcement.

Emphasis mine. Yeah, exactly this. It feels like time as slowed since original announcement.
When it first announced: "Oh, shipping in December? Neat, maybe I could get one before going on my annual Christmas vacation to see family (who all live a 5-hour plane ride away), something I can game/browse the web on besides my phone while I'm away from my normal desktop for a week or so".
After three hours trying to get a reservation: "Ok, well, Q2 2022...I guess that's better than nothing. Oh, maybe I can get it in time for that rumored family reunion in the middle of the year in a different state, to have something to game/browse the web on while I'm away from my normal desktop for a week or so."
After the announcement of shipping being delayed two months: "Well, maybe I can have it in time for next Christmas vacation?"
