Do you love watching Twitch livestreams? I bet there's plenty amongst our readers! Well, it seems Mozilla are looking into making it better with Firefox.
Writing on Reddit, jrmuizel a Gfx team Engineer at Mozilla said: "Over the past while, I've noticed quite a few reports of people complaining that Twitch has worse performance in Firefox vs Chrome/Edge. I'm hoping to spend some more time on fixing this over the next little while and am looking for more specifics on how and when it's worse for people.
If anyone sees this (or uses Twitch and doesn't see it) please respond with some details including what kind of computer you're using, and how to reproduce the problem."
The only problem I usually have is certain areas seemingly at random fail to load, with an error message of "Failed to load module", which usually goes away with a refresh. It's quite a nuisance though.
Have you had issues with Twitch and Firefox? Might be time to speak up and let your problems be known, and who knows a future Firefox release might fix it. Head over to the Reddit post to let the developer know.

I get this fairly regularly. Hitting F5 a few times generally brings it up. I actually thought it was my pi-hole adblocker that caused this (and it might be contributing?) but interesting that it's a Firefox thing.
Firefox is a superb browser. I definitely wouldn't give it up at this point.

I fixed that by enabling DNS over HTTPS in the settings.

yea Owncast is great. i recommend it for people tired of Twitch.

I can't say I watch a lot of Twitch, but I generally haven't noticed any issues when watching Twitch videos on Firefox. Still, it's great to see that devs are looking into it. The past few versions of Firefox have been pretty nice, they've managed to fix most of my YouTube woes.

Just to add to the pile, I too have this issue. Twitch is the only website I watch with Chrome because of this bug.
Couldn't find the repro steps though 😕

I had problems with Firefox on Youtube, where the page would simply stall and need a refresh to work again. Turned out it was the ad-blocker I was using, µBlock Origin. I changed for another and the problem got away. Maybe this Twitch problem with Firefox may be related to a add-on people are using.

i never use twitch, their interface was too heavy for my computer, it was not impossible to use, but it wasnt worth it, its like the chicken and egg problem:
the UI was heavy so i didnt visit it often, as result of not visiting it, i dont know about any good content on it, so i didnt cared enough to give it another try to know if they fixed the ui problem.
so... its looks like it wasnt twitch but twitch performance on firefox... i have no idea of what bootnecks firefox have that twitch uses to have this issue.
for me its easier to giveup on twitch than on firefox, but good to know they are looking at the issue.

I see several people here are also experiencing the "Failed to load module" bug.
If you would be so kind, please upvote this and this ticket on Twitch UserVoice, to increase visibility of the bug. I believe this to be a Twitch problem, since I've seen literally no other website that would exhibit this behaviour in Firefox.

I use uBlock Origin too, in addition to my pi-hole. I'll give disabling it a shot, but I'm not really interested in moving adblocker - uBlock Origin has been (otherwise, if it's at fault here) excellent!

It did for me for many years. But months ago, mainly YouTube, but also a couple other pages started to act funny. They started to load then stop, or dynamic content like comment sessions wouldn't load. Since I use about 5 extensions, took me a while testing thoroughly until I could point my finger with confidence.
It still works fine with Chromium, but since FF is my daily driver, I had to change.

I don't know about this, I always use streamlink+mpv for watching Twitch streams, and it's perfect for me.

I regularly use Twitch on Firefox and often have issues. Can confirm the random loading failure of modules (sometimes surviving several page refreshes). Also very poor performance, especially when watching multiple streams in different tabs. Even worse, on AMD Renoir I have recurring crashes of the whole driver, which forces me to reboot the system (latest Firefox on X11 with hardware acceleration via VA-API, mesa 22, kernel 5.16rc8, but also happens on stable releases).
Twitch is really unenjoyable lately on Firefox. But I don't want to hop browser windows, so I endure it.
