Slay the Spire, one of the games that helped to really push the popularity of deck-builders is back with a fresh Beta build, this time getting ready for the Steam Deck.

Bringing support for Steam Input, this should hopefully give Slay the Spire better gamepad support overall, not just for the Steam Deck but that's of course the biggest reason to do it right now. The update also additionally adds Finnish language support, and updates for other localizations. There's also a removal of "excessive" display config loading and an update for log4j to prevent any future security problems.

Testing it out today, the gamepad support feels pretty good - great actually. Slay the Spire is a type of game that works really nicely with a gamepad in hand. Everything feels smooth with an Xbox controller at least, easy to kick back and play.

Are you looking forward to playing Slay the Spire on Deck?

Slay the Spire is available on Humble Store (big sale until Friday, January 14) and Steam.

Finally, I play this very often and the controller was not really working in Linux (it was flawless in Win) and this is the game I really prefer to play in my relax time in front of the TV with a controller :)

That is great to hear, the first time that I played and saw the UI, I already liked with touch controls (I even tried to do that with steam link on iPad, but didn't work).

Hopefully it wasn't too hard to sort out. The controller input works fine on the Switch.

I'm actually curious about the log4j. I thought that was an Apache server vulnerability. What kind of server does this run? Or am I not understanding it right?

log4j is a project under the Apache Foundation (along with many others, including OpenOffice). It's a logging tool written in Java, and used by a lot of Java apps. I assume Slay the Spire is written in Java.

Such a great game.
If you like it then check out Monster train. Same type of game, but even better IMO.

Ah. Ok. Thanks. I think I understand. I though it was more server specific, like apache2. Thanks for explaining it for me.
