Vintage Story continues to impress with not just the rate they can churn out updates, but also how much they manage to stuff into each of them. The "Homesteading part 2 & Combat update" is out now, bringing some pretty fancy new features and so if you've been on the fence about it, perhaps it's time to try it out if you're after a different open-world survival experience. The price will also slightly increase soon.

For this update you can expect to see a server-wide auction house (multiplayer only), new storage options, fruit trees, 34 new types of mushrooms, rifts that appear in the world, an update to the combat to include shields, a rework of the wind shader, a rework of the liquid system, a new optional permadeath mode and the list just keeps going. Check out the new update trailer below:

Not just big additions though, there's plenty of smaller bits to make playing it easier like WASD scrolling on the world map, lots of gameplay balancing, bug fixes and more.

The release announcement has all the specifics.

You can buy it from Humble Store, itch.io and the official site.

It does not only happen every few days IT ALSO HAPPENS FOR DAYS. For that time I should sit in my hut/shack/dirt hole?
Twiggling Thumbs and do nothing? Vintage Story is a good game, except this "temporal storm" bullshit! This has no use in the game then just to annoy you. Bring on some "real" stuff and not such "oh I need some shit to annoy the shit out of people" stuff.

The storms last for a fixed time, which is 8 or 10 minutes I think. You were probably spending time in a low stability area, and that is badly explained in the game. The storms are there for story purpose (albeit not in the game yet) and as a player, its the perfect time to farm for temporal gears (for those awesome translocators (teleporters)) and rusty gears (the currency in game). Build an area that gives you an advantage against the endless wave of drifters, go there when the storms are about to start and reap the rewards.

LOL! 8-10 Minutes would be fine! Mine lasted for hours and didn't get way and I was moving far distances. As far I could get wihout being killed!

I don't care about that story if it isn't fully implemented. These storms are just annoying and don't add anything for me to the game. In the contrary these storms killed the game for me.

That sounds more like a bug than anything else. In my 60+ (?) hours of playing the game, the longest one I had was of the strongest category and took about half a day at max. I'd say they usually last only a few hours (in-game).

From the wiki itself:
QuoteThe duration of temporal storms will increase in time, by default it can last between 2.4h and 4.8h maximum. The differentiation between light, medium or heavy temporal storms does not influence the duration, but rather the feeling of the storm, meaning specifically the visual and audio aspects of this mechanic.
If a multi-day one happened to you, you were either playing on a server with messed up settings or as I said, a bug.
Both of which would suck, of course.

It took hours in real time! No server involved! Single Player.
Reported the issue to the forum and Developer. The reaction was: SHUT UP! This is how it is meant to be.

But what I found out later is that you can turn it off on a server. So why not in single player? Anyhow the game is ruined for me.

Quoting: ChronariusSounds like a lot of mimimimimimimimi to me too.
If installing mods sounds like whining to you, I feel bad for you as some of the best experiences in gaming are unlocked only with mods fine-tuning the experience to your liking.[/quote]
Well, YOU are calling someone mimimimimi for ranting about a game feature and need on the other hands mods to modify the "experience" to their liking! Sounds a bit strange to me :D

A bit of an understatement there, it was more like you rage posted about a mechanic. Your wording was not only unhelpful but also violated our forum rules. The dev team is always open to constructive critizism - phrases like "Temporal Bullshit!" and "You are fucking kidding me?" I do not consider constructive.

It is configurable to a great extent in single player, by clicking "Customize" on the create new world screen or by using the world config commands to modify an existing world - https://wiki.vintagestory.at/index.php?title=World_Configuration#Temporal_stability
