What's that? More Valve games will be able to run on the Steam Deck? You got that right. Both Left 4 Dead 2 and Team Fortress 2 popped up recently. Earlier we saw that Half-Life 2 is now verified and we know this once again thanks to SteamDB, who track basically everything Steam.
Left 4 Dead 2 appears fully Verified for Steam Deck, so out of the box it should be a great experience overall. However, in the case of Team Fortress 2 it's only mentioned that it's Playable. For TF2 the issues seem to be a mix of text being too small and it doesn't have the best gamepad support. While on one hand it shows that Valve have work to do even for their owns games, on the other it shows they're at least honest about Deck compatibility.
It's no surprise to see Left 4 Dead 2 getting high marks though, since it did just get updated recently. Do you think Valve will ever go back and properly update TF2?
Will you be pumping hours into either of these on Deck? Let us know in the comments.
Quoting: Loftyid definitely like to play TF2 on the steam deck. Heck id even play CS:GO on the steam deck even though i might not 'win' the match id have a lot of fun trying to
Do not underestimate the speed and accuracy of gyro aiming. It's better than mouse.

Not for me, as an owner of both a mouse and steam controller's using gyro aim for hundreds of hours. Close, but its not better than a mouse for me at least.
That said, perhaps the steam deck will have even better haptic pads and be a better fit for using gyro due to it's size and shape.
Quoting: BogomipsThey can't even get rid of text issues in CS:GO :) (The demoui control panel is unusable).
worse for me is that the support for custom servers is bad. None of the servers i try to connect to will load maps as there is some weird naming format that doesn't seem to jive well with Linux on custom maps, it might even just be a case sensitive thing but it stop's me joining prop hunt / jail or zombie maps for years now, i have to play CS:source for that
Not to mention the custom server list glitches and you lose the mouse cursor and you have to tab, alt-tab, shift-tab a few times to try get it back so you can choose a server....
CS:GO on Linux is just a mess. At least you don't have to still put in a custom launch command to disable joystick in order for it to launch now. But it crashes quiet frequently on my system using OpenGL. The Vulkan option makes it run smooth but the shaders take so long to cache and load in you can lose the first few rounds with stutter.
would be nice if it could load on Proton but ironically Valve games can't seem to do this to well.

Indeed, management of mouse event that are not caught between screen layers is also a pain.
And I am too afraid to remove the -nojoy command from the launch options for the moment
Quoting: StarterX4In case of TF2, it's officially abandoned.TF2 Wiki:
QuoteLatest patchFar from abandoned, though I suppose Starbelly might be right that its complicated controls will never get officially "verified" status.
