Superliminal, the brilliant puzzle game where your perspective changes the size of things you hold to progress recently gained some multiplayer modes - and now they're on Linux too.

There was a delay, as it seems there were a few Unity game engine issues. Writing on Twitter, porter Ethan Lee noted that for developers still on Unity 2019, they're going to want at least 2019.4.35f1 to fix up some Vulkan input lag issues. Nice to see that fix backported to an older Unity build though.

Initially the multiplayer only had this strange Battle Royale styled mode, but it has since expanded with full online co-op. So you can play through the story together which sounds great.

Honestly this is one of my most favourite puzzle games launched in the last few years. The idea is great and its execution is close to perfection.

You can buy it for Linux on Steam.

Ethan also noted that Valve started to remove some of his games port in favour of Proton.
I wonder if this one is concerned, and why Valve would do that.
Hopefully, this is just a mistake from an automated procedure from Valve.

Nothing has been removed. Ethan's Twitter post is talking about the defaults on the Steam Deck, all of which is likely in flux until release.

Anyone know if the GOG version will get the multiplayer mode?
If not I'm afraid it won't receive updates anymore...

Also wondering if the GOG version gets multiplayer, cross-platform with the steam version, or not.

Are there other defaults for Deck than for my box?

But this is old, at the time the Linux version didn't have yet multiplayer...

Yes I know, you still got what you paid for in the first place, it's visible that multiplayer doesn't work on Linux and if you really want to play with a friend you can run it with wine.

Honestly if making the online co-op windows exclusive on gog was the only way to bring to the game I'm fine with it, but a os agnostic online mode should be the way to go, at least for our perspective as consumers.

For small developers, the only opportunity they have is to use the multiplayer infrastructure from others. In this case that would be Steam or GOG Galaxy. Which means that Linux will be out of luck for the GOG version.
