Vulkan post-processing layer vkBasalt allows Linux gamers to run various visual enhancement features, along with support for running various Reshade Fx shaders. A fantastic project that can really bring new life to older games, or to improve newer games that have a lack of good graphical tweaking options.

Recently the developer put up version 0.3.2.5 with these improvements:

  • micro optimized some shaders
  • added a new enableOnLaunch config option
  • fixed crash when the swapchain was created before vkGetDeviceQueue was called
  • fixed build on gcc12

Current effects that come with vkBasalt include: Contrast Adaptive Sharpening, Denoised Luma Sharpening, Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing, Enhanced Subpixel Morphological Anti-Aliasing and a 3D colour LookUp Table.

Want help using it? You can try out the GOverlay app which works with MangoHud, vkBasalt and ReplaySorcery.

Has any one tried if ReShade RTGI (ray tracing global illumination) works in Linux? And how to get it running?
