The Witcher 3 got bumped up from Playable to Verified for the Steam Deck around the initial Deck release, and developer CD Projekt RED has released a statement on it now.
A game that was supposed to gain official SteamOS support back when the original Steam Machines released, with Valve showing a huge splash image on the Steam homepage to announce it coming. It was quickly removed, which Valve and CDPR stayed silent on afterwards. How things change huh?
In the announcement the developer said they're "working closely with Valve on the compatibility and performance aspects of our games on the Steam Deck. The goal is to provide the best possible Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 experience on this platform, while keeping in mind its unique hardware characteristics" and they also said not to expect any updates for their "legacy" titles like the original Witcher game.

Doubt it. My bet is that they were expecting VP to do it with eon. Until they realised that this wasn't exactly a viable solution.

People believe a lot of the propaganda because it confirms a lot of what they already believed. That's why it's so effective. After all, a lot of the people who make the propaganda are just regular people too, not cunning masterminds who brainwash the masses. It's something that has persisted in my country (America) for decades.

Yeah, I dodged a major bullet on this one. Amid all the excitement with Steam Machines I had almost preordered The Witcher 3, and from gog.com no less, but somehow managed to hold off. As a reward, I got to buy the deluxe edition at -75% and soon(ish) I'll finally play it on Steam Deck.

The only overpowered enemies I remember in the 2nd game were a few mages in an optional fight. And not five of them.

I assume they simply made UI more aware of smaller screen (that was the main complaint about TW3 on the Deck from what I've heard), so it's not native, but same DX11/dxvk version.

It will be difficult for Poles to return to the Russian market. Formally, they will return, but they have lost their respect and fans completely.

It will be difficult for Poles to return to the Russian market. Formally, they will return, but they have lost their respect and fans completely.
It is not about returns. CD Projekt and GOG thanks to Europen Union sanctions for Russia and disable SWIFT can't selling games. Well, can sell, but payment methods are blocked. So the CDP's decision is somehow forced.

I think with the war going, respect for gaming companies in Russia itself should be the least concern for those who dealt with it.
Poland knows well what occupation means. If anything, they'd worry more about losing respect everywhere else for continuing business in Russia.

I own witcher 2+3 and never really played them. Certainly looking forward to try them again on my deck (just finished the real order *yay*)
Can I just start with witcher3 or should I go back to Witcher1 and walk through the series?
Anyway, very reassuring that CDPR is actually committed. Guess I'll go out of my way and order cyberpunk on next sale :D
