If you love games that emulate a job or a hobby, this is the event for you. Steam Simfest: Hobby Edition is live until April 4.

Another event for you to jump in, find some demos and there's plenty of discounts on games that are already available too. During the last few days of the event (April 1 - 4), there will also be a whole bunch of official talks and discussions taking place which will be live on the event page and likely directly on game pages on Steam.

Not all games are on sale though, the event as a whole is just to bring attention to some of these games and help developers find a bigger audience.

Some of the games on sale that I found to be interesting include:

One of the highlighted games, PowerWash Simulator (not discounted), seems quite amusing in a weirdly satisfying way. As the name suggests, it's all about washing away the dirt to get that sparkly finish. It runs great with Steam Play Proton on Linux and it's Steam Deck Verified, so here's a quick look at it running on Deck:

It's thoroughly odd how you can get so easily lost in such a game, it completely absorbed my attention. This might be my new favourite game to play on Steam Deck.

That powerwash sim reminds me of the 2 hours I spent "playing" House Flipper, before I realised I'd be better spending my time actually painting and cleaning my own home. I went through the same thing with Guitar Hero - initially enjoyed it, then realised that the hours I'd have to spend playing it to move on to the next level, I'd be better off learning how to actually play a guitar!

I still can't play Freebird on my actual guitar right enough, but I can crank out some Iron Maiden with a bit of a warm up. And my house is reasonably tidy, so there's that.

The time I play overcooked, I could actually get a better cook. The time I play SteamWorld Dig, I could actually dig for riches. The time I play Tropico, I could use to actually become El Presidente of a caribbean island. The time I play portal, I could work on a portal gun. The time I play Broforce, I could bring the world values by force...

But, you know... gaming is about having fun.

Also, I can play the guitar, but damn, playing rockband in the right group is just crazy fun.

PowerWash Simulator is a weird game. It's one of the few games I can play for hours at a time and quite often I'm so into it I barely blink and I end up with insanely bloodshot eyes. It's like the game is hypnotizing me.
