Quite a long time after originally planned, The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe is now confirmed to launch on April 27.

The developer says it's an "expanded re-imagining" of the original from 2013, which was a surprisingly amusing first-person exploration game. All of the original content is here but there's a big expansion with new content to explore, new choices and new secrets. It's also gone through a visual overhaul, added accessibility features, localization of in-game text and content warnings. Plus, the fab voice work of Kevan Brighting returns.

More about it:

When a simple-minded individual named Stanley discovers that the co-workers in his office have mysteriously vanished, he sets off to find answers.

You will play as Stanley, and you will not play as Stanley. You will make a choice, and you will have your choices taken from you. The game will end, the game will never end. Contradiction follows contradiction, the rules of how games should work are broken, then broken again. You are not here to win. The Stanley Parable is a game that plays you.

It will be available on Steam.

I love the self-aware humour in the trailer, scolding themselves for the release delays.

The real question is: Will the game have enough new and surprising twists to be worth re-playing? I sure hope so...

Ok, that 427 → 4/27 for the release date was clever. Didn't think of that until I saw it.

Nice to see there are Linux spec requirements on the Steam page -- they're not just phoning it in like some half-arsed devs and expecting people to run the Windows version of the game in Proton.

Considering the original Stanley Parable is linux native, it should not take too mach to port any expansions to the original over to this one. My biggest question is if it will be steam deck verrified?

As Linux Native does not necessarily mean that it gets Steam Deck Verified status.

From 2013? I feel old, even though I'm not even close to being old.

The original Stanley Parable has got an achievement Go outside - Don't play The Stanley Parable for five years. Time to go for it now, I guess. (No, I don't want to cheat!) I think I already got those five years passed, but is there a way to check before I reset the counter without getting the achievement?

Hehe, 427. Well, if you're on that side of the pond, that is.
Can't wait!

The game page in your library should give you a "last played" date.

Ah, you're right! Right (next but one) to the play button.
2015, so I give it a shot now!
