Wine is the compatibility layer that allows you to run games and applications developed for Windows - on Linux (plus also macOS and BSD). A new development release is out with Wine 7.5. It's a major part of what makes up Steam Play Proton and enables a ton of games to work on the Steam Deck. Once a year or so, a new stable release is made.
Here's what they listed as the highlights:
- ALSA driver converted to PE.
- Locale database generated from Unicode CLDR.
- HLSL compiler support with the bundled vkd3d.
- Initial support for the OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol).
- More cleanups to support 'long' type.
- Various bug fixes.
28 bugs were noted to be solved as of this release, some older and some new including: Minecraft (Windows 10 edition), GRID 2, The Evil Within 2, DYSMANTLE and various other miscellaneous fixes.

Wait, Minecraft from Windows Store? Is it now playable on Linux? Or did I not understand correctly?

I'd like to play Crossfire on Linux, I reported it a couple of years ago, I hope they'll solve it soon! XD

Quoting: TrainDocWell I know that, but you need Microsoft Store to download it which is not present on Linux as far as I know.Quoting: Rafii2198Wait, Minecraft from Windows Store? An interesting addition in this Wine - built in HLSL compiler. I.e. D3DCompile is now hooked into latest Wine code:
https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/blob/HEAD:/dlls/d3dcompiler_43/compiler.c#l940
But Cyberpunk 2077 with Cyberengine tweaks you still need install d3dcompiler_47 override. While it's not crashing anymore without it, the tweaks UI itself isn't working either.

Quoting: Rafii2198https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51923 links to https://www.linuxadictos.com/en/uwp-como-ejecutar-este-tipo-de-aplicaciones-de-windows-en-linux.html which works for downloading it, and extracting it sort of works with 7z as far as i can tell. I wasn't able to run it out of the box, but I suppose that is to be expected.Quoting: TrainDocWell I know that, but you need Microsoft Store to download it which is not present on Linux as far as I know.Quoting: Rafii2198Wait, Minecraft from Windows Store?
