Remember the days where you could buy tech with clear casing? I loved my Game Boy Pocket that had it, and now you can sort-of get there thanks to dbrand with their Teardown skin for the Steam Deck. This doesn't show up in their normal skin selector for the Steam Deck, as it's a special edition.

It might not be see-through casing but it's close enough, and dbrand jokingly said on Twitter that "Steam Decks died for this.". I must admit, it really does look cool and dbrand skins are high-quality too so you can't really go wrong with them.

Teardown comes in two versions with either Gloss or Ultramatte, depending on your preference and both look just as good. What you get:

  • Special Edition Front Skin
  • Special Edition Back Skin
  • Special Edition Trackpad Skin (×2)
  • Microfiber Cloth

Cost: $49.95.

Honestly, I wish this had come out before I did something else, and you can see how I totally ruined mine below:

I have to admit though, the camouflage is absolutely gorgeous and I am considering rewrapping entirely in it.

Good News: You can still buy tech with clear casings!

Bad News: It's usually only available for use in prisons.

There's an interesting video on that subject here.

Anyway, no Steam Deck here, but this skin looks fab - as does the camouflage one, which reminds me of some of the shells of the NeoGeo Pocket Colour.

I think I'd be afraid to touch it, since my brain would keep thinking I'm about to short out some sensitive electronic doohickey.
