Bottles continues to mature as a way to manage installing applications and games with the compatibility layer Wine. A fresh release is out now showing off some UI improvements and new features.

Version 2022.4.14 adds in a new loading screen, as the startup can take a few seconds so it's just a nice bit of initial polishing for the user experience. Another experimental feature also made its way in with the new Library Mode view. The idea with this Library, is to pull together your various programs into one place for easy launching:

Giving you a one-click start and stop, along with letting you know which Bottle it was installed inside. Sounds like it's going to be quite useful. The option to kill all running processes was also moved, and given a warning to prevent users doing it accidentally.

Another fun addition is support for vkBasalt (if you have it installed), a Vulkan post-processing layer that can run shaders from Reshade and it has a few options built-in like Contrast Adaptive Sharpening, Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing, Enhanced Subpixel Morphological Anti-Aliasing, Denoised Luma Sharpening and a 3D colour LookUp Table.

Bottles has quickly become my go-to way for installing things with Wine.

All that and more in the release notes. Need a short guide on Bottles or want to see it in action? Got you covered.

Have anyone figured out how to integrate Bottles with Legendary?
