Ready for high-speed explosive racing? FLASHOUT 3 was announced last month and dev Jujubee S.A. has now put up a demo. The demo currently has one circuit (Star City), one ship and 3 types of weapons to try out and online leaderboards are hooked up too so you can take on the world.
Featuring incredibly vibrant neon-soaked graphics, FLASHOUT 3 brings with it ultra-fast ships, loops, jumps and sudden razor-sharp turns that can be a little tricky to manage while you're looking out for weapons firing from other racers.

The Linux Native demo seems to work just fine, with gamepad support also working nicely with my Xbox Series X pad, no trouble there at all which is a good sign for the full release at some point later this year. A little bit too fast for me personally (it felt really chaotic) but I'm sure some speed-demon readers will love a go at this.
Game Features:
- High-speed, unforgettable racing experience.
- A powerful arsenal of weapons, boosts and upgrades at your disposal.
- A large collection of destroyable race ships to choose from.
- A variety of different race tracks and layouts.
- Various game modes, including Career, Versus and more!
- Stunning 3D Graphics.
- High-beat electronic music.
You can follow it and try the new demo on Steam.
Just noticed due to my gtx1060 with just 3GB, ofc.
I'm not sold on the game itself though, the turning is weird and hitting the side of the track sends you bouncing to the other side and with about 3-4 hits to the wall being enough to crash your vehicle it's quite easy to quickly end up in a sort of wall-stun-lock.
I want to like it though, so if anyone has any tips... ;)

Quoting: CybolicFor those interested, it works very well on the Steam Deck at a locked 40FPS with SSR turned off (it's very distracting on anyway).
You must have a different Deck then, for me the game is near unplayable with the framerate going anywhere between 20 and 40 (SSR turned off, reflections off, textures medium, glitch effect turned off)
if someone wants a truly good Wipeout-style racer that runs on linux already, check out BallisticNG, a completely faithful PSX Wipeout love letter. Grab the Enai Siaion track pack off the Steam workshop to get tens of professional-quality new tracks for it for free, including some very faithful recreations of Wipeout courses - and the Wipeout ships are on the workshop as well, if that's your thing.
BallisticNG has the years of polish and feedback from a wipeout-diehard community needed to make a racer of this type work, a fair pricetag, tons and tons of content, and is imo quite beautiful.
I've never found another modern anti-grav racer that even comes close to having "it"

Okay, you're very right. It was a locked 40FPS whenever I was looking at the counter, but paying more attention to it now in more intense scenes, I can see that it indeed drops down to 25 at times. 25FPS drops are rare on mine though, but drops to 31-32FPS are frequent.
Here's a shot from my Deck at roughly the same spot. I think I have textures on low and glitch on, but otherwise same settings as you. EDIT: I should note that I'm using the beta branch of SteamOS with a screen refresh rate of 40.

BallisticNG is amazing, to the point where it's practically my favourite WipEout game, despite being a separate IP.

Quoting: McCartheeHangs perpetually while loading for me. Doesn't even crash, just hangs forever.Same here.
-EDIT-
Actually, tt seems to completely crash, leaving the window opened.
There's a report of a linux user on steam too.
Tried via proton too, same issue, weird.

Quoting: stylonThis looks great - total rip-off of Wipeout on the original PlayStation mind you but if it plays as well I won't complain! This made me wonder what makes people say rip-off versus spiritual successor...? Hmm... I'm thinking maybe how the publisher markets the game.
Definitely going to try out the demo.
