Want to get some higher quality screenshots of all the awesome moments in gaming on the Steam Deck (or any Linux desktop?). Here's a quick-tip guide on what to do. This will also work on Windows too but of course the Steam Deck uses Linux, and so the path to certain folders is different.
Guide:
- Be in Desktop Mode (Power button -> Switch to Desktop).
- Open the Steam Settings (right click Steam icon -> Settings).
- Click in-game on the left panel.
- Click save an uncompressed copy.
- Click the "Screenshot Folder" button and pick where you want them to drop in.
If you don't want that but do wish to know where to find all your screenshots regardless, you can find them in the hidden Steam folder:
- In your Dolphin file manager, head to the hamburger menu in the top right.
- Click the Show hidden files option.
- Then head through:
.steam/steam/userdata/yourid/760/remote/gameid/screenshots/
or if you don't have .steam for whatever reason it's also found in.local/share/Steam/userdata/yourid/760/remote/gameid/screenshots/
.

Hmm, I think people could simplify it by symlinking. As an example:
`ln -s TARGET_DESTINATION LINK_DESTINATION`
`ln -s ~/.steam/steam/userdata/yourid/YOUR_USER_ID_HERE/remote/gameid/screenshots/ ~/Screenshots`
I didn't actually learn about these directories until recently.
Edit: I checked, for me it appears to be here: ( I simply typed in .jpg into the search bar to find the directory path.
`ln -s ~/.steam/steam/userdata/########/###/remote/######/screenshots/ ~/Screenshots`

This thing taking way to long to come to Australia, wonder what the Steam Deck 2 will be like. Maybe a 7000 series APU? or perhaps they will get a custom RDNA3 job done.

Doesn't mean we'll ever see one and my expectation is that we will likely not see one. You can hold me to that.

If I had to speculate I would guess that the interval would be no less than 2 years. Mostly because I think the R&D and then production would take considerable planning and time. Theoretically they could have the human resource timelines overlapping, but I still don't think I'd holy my breath. It seems Valve likes to go through the full process, learn their weaknesses and then incorporate their findings into their next big product, so I doubt they overlap really.

A third one, however, given Valve's inability to count to three...

I've been waiting for another Valve VR headset for 3 years now. Gabe really should stop lying to the public that he knows what's going on at Valve when he clearly doesn't.I'm definitely expecting a second one. Well your in luck because I think the Deckard will be announced this year sometime in Q4. As for how affordable it will be?! I dunno. I might just save up for it anyway as I hate Meta.
As for Steam Deck 2, I can see that happening by the time they sort out delivering this thing to Australia which has traditionally taken at least 2 years to do supply chain wise. But normally once they get the first one sorted, the second edition hardware comes faster, not sure why that is.
ATM we have covid wreaking our postal system here adding significant delivery times for normal items. Restrictions are all lifted, death rate sky rockets... shrug..

The problem is I can't hold you to that. So many people have these really bad takes online. It always turns out wrong and I can't do anything about it. I will probably remember this 3-4 years later and be like didn't someone have this really bad take about a steam deck 2 never coming and be scratching my head where that bad take was.

I have only seen largely positive things about the Steam Deck. Yet to come across a single BAD TAKE on this device. Probably some Windows user extremist channels, lmao

Have a reminder with KAlarm. Once did this for talking to someone about semething 10 years in the future. (Already expired now.)
But yes, I feel you about prophets online.
