Do you own the base game of Dying Light? Good news for you, as Techland are bumping everyone up to the full Enhanced Edition which includes The Following expansion. Plus a final patch is out now.
This means all owners of the game (on Steam at least) will get The Following expansion, Bozak Horde, Cuisine and Cargo, Ultimate Survivor bundle and the Crash Test skin bundle! You have to hand it to Techland here, not only have they supported the original Dying Light for many years but bumping everyone up when the sequel is out is pretty fantastic.
A rather big patch also just landed which includes a bunch of changes and additions for the Hellraid DLC including a new weapon, a reworked armory, new consumables, new bounties and other minor additions. Overall, they claim it's much more satisfying to play though.

On top of that the latest patch adds new tutorials for various parts of the game, new blueprints to craft, an overhaul to the Be The Zombie PvP mode, a bunch of bug fixes and the list goes on across two patch notes (#1, #2).
There's also a new event with the crazy engineer twins, Tolga and Fatin, having two new bounties available that are local for you and global for everyone with a new blueprint and 3 King Mods as rewards.

And what about Dying Light 2 Linux version??
As I'd heard the Proton experience was better I switched to that recently. It isn't! Exactly the same as the Linux version for me. Great game though.

My Dying Light broke two updates ago. I now have a black and brown screen with the background music.Three standard things to try:
- Try adding the launch option -nologos to skip the intro movie, faster loading and can help with black screen/white loading bar crash. (bonus points, this works in Dying Light 2 also)
Right-click on Dying Light in your Steam Library -> Properties -> Launch Options. - If using the Linux native version, try the SLR compatibility tool (Steam Linux Runtime) which uses older libraries to help older games work on modern distros.
Find it in game Properties -> Compatibility - You can also use Proton to play the Windows version, it likely runs better as well. Also found in game Properties -> Compatibility.

- I didn't know that the SLR could be found in the compatibility tools thanks.

Not for me, I used the native version since day one of Dying Light and had some chat with the support team because it took at least 15 days to fix my problems after the game was launched but everything went well after that.
So, thanks to protondb I found a solution for a problem caused by the NVIDIA drivers (>470) according to the post there.
I fixed my problem with the following launch options:
__GL_IGNORE_GLSL_EXT_REQS=1 __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATIONS=1 %command% -nologos

Is the Hellraid dlc any good?There's lots of hate for various reasons, but ignore all that hot air and enjoy it for what it is now. A polished dark/magic/medieval/fantasy themed expansion of sorts with tons of new stuff. This is as close as we are likely to ever get to a standalone Hellraid game, and IMHO it's pretty solid.
For a measly 5€, it's definitely worth it. I've spent way more on plenty games that were not even half as good or fun.
And what about Dying Light 2 Linux version??
It's not necessary - with full ray tracing under optimized Linux, the Windows version is very good ;) And now even better - I improved kernel optimizations ;)
