With this latest version, the official FFXIV Launcher works for me without crashing! Well, it at least logged in and started installing this time; I don't have enough free space right now for another install to fully test but apparently it gets past the launcher which has always been the pain point.

So, someone said steam deck is not a plug and play experience because you have to use compatibility options and beta proton builds. Well wait a few days and you don't have to do any of that stuff. And anything else, the verified program is clear what you can play so nobody is lying about steam deck capabilities.

Yeah, you literally have a list of 'These will just work' 'these may take a little work' 'you're on your own' and 'these are currently busted'. All you need for the plug and play experience is to leave it at the default of 'verified'. Of which I think I have like 380~ games.

Damn those lazy devs who don't care to do the bloody job themselves. Do native ports goddamn it !

Quoting: GuestNewly playable? I've had MW:Online running with DXVK for quite a long time. Dumped the game for other reasons, but it technically ran just fine.
Came here to say the same thing. But this is Experimental. I've always played it via GE and checking ProtonDB it does look like most successes were with GE, not base Proton.

Quoting: Liam DaweMore like shoddy decisions that make native ports less viable. Whether it is choice of engine, third party video codecs, or just the choice of not wanting to support various operating systems.Quoting: ssj17vegetaDamn those lazy devs who don't care to do the bloody job themselves. I do find it amusing that smaller porting houses are fully capable of releasing and maintaining native Linux and mac ports... but then the big ones like Ubisoft can't be bothered. Granted that is a numbers game. 'Oh, we could sell 1 million more copies? Meh, we are looking at the 100 million...' where the potential for smaller devs is worth it.
