Valve has put up their latest little festival to grab some more games with the Steam Racing Fest. It also comes with a new Steam feature with a mini-trivia game. If you play their racing trivia game you can end up with one of those cool looking profile badges.

Going over some of the big and / or otherwise interesting games on the list, here's a bunch that I picked out that are playable on Linux and Steam Deck that are discounted:

Steam Racing Fest will be live until May 30th.

While I adored that one when I played it, since the sale they've not really announced much of anything and it's a little worrying right now.

I can definitely appreciate that position, for me I couldn't warrant the purchase at full-price, but for a £5 I am happy to give it a spin.

Yeah I was wondering about this as well, but I bet it has something to do with the acquisition of the developer by iRacing.

Horizon Chase Turbo is by FAR the best game of the lot. A true gem of a game.

>Lowpoly fast SEGA-like arcade racing.
>Music by Amiga's Lotus 3 Turbo Challenge music composer.
>Incredible polished and fun.
>Native Linux support.

Indeed, you can't go wrong wit this one.

Dirt 4 was my best driving experience ever using keyboard (no wheel). It's discounted as well. While Dirt Rally was my worst (wheel is mandatory here )
Dirt 5 isn't native and I hear it's not that good as one might expect. Maybe wheel's needed too idk.
I tested Forza Horizon 4 and 5 (win11). And I still can say that Dirt4's driving vibes are better. For real. (Again keyboard only). Although Forza looks much better.

...waiting for another linux native vulkan game

Haven't tested BlazeRush on Deck yet, but on PC the native Linux version has issues for me. We are playing this game here and there again and again for years, and it used to work fine, but since a few months some issues occured for me: Opening the Steam overlay freezes the game, and the analog stick is not detecting full acceleration when tilted (using Steam Controller). Switched to Proton and everything works again as it used to be. I guess a Steam Linux Runtime updated causes a regression. Sadge, but I guess tha game isn't maintained anymore to get this fixed.

Can add now:

  • Fly Dangerous 100% off (cuz it's free and will always be - oh and it's opensource)

Steam threw a wrench into the planned release date so it only popped up today and not at the start of the Racing Fest.

For anyone interested in Horizon Chase Turbo, there is an even better deal on Fanatical

So bad that Horizon Chase Turbo isn't outside of Steam DRM-Free...

I can see how Dirt Rally would be horrible using a keyboard, but I have to say I got hundreds of hours of entertainment out of it with a cheap gamepad. Thumbsticks and triggers can't beat a wheel and pedals obviously, but they do the job. That said, it's a hard game to master no matter your control scheme.
