Looks like developer Crows Crows Crows has managed to make a hit into another hit, with The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe shifting 100,000 copies in the first 24 hours the developer announced on Twitter.

"When a simple-minded individual named Stanley discovers that the co-workers in his office have mysteriously vanished, he sets off to find answers. You will play as Stanley, and you will not play as Stanley. You will make a choice, and you will have your choices taken from you. The game will end, the game will never end. Contradiction follows contradiction, the rules of how games should work are broken, then broken again. You are not here to win. The Stanley Parable is a game that plays you."

I went through some of the new content live on the GamingOnLinux Twitch channel, until my PC had something of an unrelated mini-meltdown. Until that point though, it was great. The new content is thankfully easy to get to, and it doesn't exactly let you miss it with big signs pointing where to go (that alone is pretty funny). The narrator continues being brilliant, and some of it really had me properly belly-laughing.

Won't spoil anything here, as this kind of game really needs you to go in blind for the majority of it. Safe to say I can highly recommend picking it up.

Available to buy on Steam.

Is your PC okay? We are in a very unfortunate time to buy new parts.

Oh yeah all good, just a software issue that I seemed to have solved by...unplugging my second monitor and plugging it back in. Yes really. Games would take forever to load or lock up my PC, my second monitor would react slow if a game was on and OBS would turn all browser window docks solid white. Couldn't figure out what was going on but hotplugging my monitor 100% fixed it. So Plasma X11 + NVIDIA being weird with multi-monitors.

I thought I'd give the new content a quick try yesterday and ended up spending a surprising 5 hours! It's such a cool game, and the new content is very well done. Really enjoying it.

I played the original over five years ago (achievement: Go outside, yes! :D ). Will I stumble over lots of content that forgot enough to not be able to avoid it, but not enough to be amused again?

I don't think so. Basically, right after the second turn in the corridor outside your office, door 416 is now open with a big sign saying "New Content Here". I zipped through some of the older content, but didn't see much change, so I think they've done a good job of keeping it all obviously separate.

Are we sure it was unrelated? That sounds like something The Narrator would do…

I think it's odd that they didn't just make a sequel instead. But then again "odd" is a core value of this game, so... :D

It must be bought.

The narrator also has the same thought.

Stanley Parable 2 has a lot of content to chip away at, far more than I was expecting from Stanley Parable 3, every time I thought I was done with Stanley Parable 4 I booted it up again just to find yet another unexplored rabbit hole, Stanley Parable 5 really lives up to its predecessor and I can't wait for Stanley Parable 6!
