The upcoming System Shock from Nightdive Studios is still coming, and a brand new trailer was recently shown off during the PC Gaming Show 2022. We don't know when it will release though.

Originally released in 1994, this remake was crowdfunded on Kickstarter and it hasn't been without trouble with development at one point being paused but it seems they're close to the finishing line now. Linux support for it was a stretch-goal at $1.1 million USD that was hit, so hopefully they will come through with a good version of it.

I'm tempering my excitement because of the development history of this, however I am highly anticipating this. They should take a page from the UNIX philosophy and just release it -- if they want to improve it with 1.1 and 1.2 milestones -- that's definitely the way.

Working copy works? Good -- ship it. Just imagine all the changes since Terraria was released, or Stardew Valley. It's okay to push perfection & details off after release and actually interact with the community to get to that perfection.

I'll be amazed if this ever releases, let alone the Linux/Mac versions.

I'll be surprised if the promised Linux version will actually happen. Would not be the first time that a Linux version gets promised or via milestone [Kickstarter] and then the Devs wont deliver. Especially since we still wait for System Shock Enhanced Edition, and lets be real that will never happen, but hey at least they gave us false hope for that one, same with Blood: Fresh Supply. And Turok 2 on GOG still has not got the Linux version. So yeah i'll be VERY surprised if they actually give us a Linux version.

Looks definitely like a big improvement compared to what we saw last time. Fingers crossed it all goes well.

QuoteLo lo lo look at you, hacker. a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?
God I want this game. The original, and Deus Ex six (!) years later, sandwiching Half Life - these games defined my love for PC gaming, committed me to it completely. Sure, Doom and Quake helped, but these three were actual stories where you were the star. They were phenomenal.

Despite myself, I have such high hopes, based on that trailer. My fingers are very much crossed.

Trailer looks really nice.... but that is what trailers are designed to be and we have all been bitten to many times by flashy trailers to fall for them anymore....

I really want this to be good, but i have so many doubts.....

That is right. There is a beautiful demo on Steam though...

Yeah, although when I think about it, it's just a trailer of an FPS, with a mocking voiceover.
