Valve has sent word that Steam Next Fest is coming back again and it will be live on October 3rd - 10th.

Much like their past editions it will be filled with hundreds of limited-time demos, although plenty of them you can likely just copy out of Steam and they will continue working but of course you're not supposed to know that (shh). On top of that there will be developer livestreams which will be live on their store pages as well as the event page, allowing you to chat to devs about their upcoming games.

For developers to get involved they must send over the registration to Valve by Thursday, July 21st 2022. There's a few boxes they need to tick to be eligible too including:

  • Associated with a Steamworks developer account in good standing
  • Visible on Steam as Coming Soon at the time of registration
  • Includes a publicly playable demo by the time the festival begins
  • To be released after the conclusion of the fest on October 10, 2022
  • Each game can only appear once in Steam Next Fest

In regards to the final point, Valve said this October's Next Fest will be the final time for a game to appear in Next Fest if it did so previously. So this rule will fully apply going forwards.

You can see the preview page, which gives you the option to set a special reminder.

Good discovery event that keeps you in the steam ecosystem although it has been almost exhausting checking out 20+ demos every fest...

I reached 50 last fest

Though having 8 hours taken by work would have hindered that a lot. Next fest just happened to be during my vacation.

For those that actually want to enjoy and find something to put into wishlist, just browsing most popular demos will be much more efficient. Most of the games at the top are there for a good reason.
