Valve has confirmed that they are (again) increasing the amount of people that will be invited to purchase a Steam Deck.
Writing on Twitter, the official OnDeck account mentioned:
Hi all, just a quick note that starting with this morning's batch of Steam Deck order invites, we've increased the number of emails we're sending out (again). We're excited to get more of these into your hands! (Order emails are sent out Monday and Thursday mornings PT)
So keep your eyes peeled on your emails around 5-6PM UTC, if you're waiting for that precious invite to come in so you can spend those big bucks on a Steam Deck.
This comes after they mentioned recently that production has sped up, so all previous reservations would come this year and the expansion into Asia.

This device is just fabulous. It's been over a month since I got it and my desktop has been collecting dust ever since. I don't feel I'll get tired of it, anytime soon. Completed HZD on SD. Rediscovered Blaze Rush which I resumed and finished. Just started new Tomb Raider, Grid (2019) and Witcher 3 runs... Lots of emulation too (never did that much emulation, even with my Rpi). The form factor is just a perfect match, for me. I'm not tied to my desk anymore (which I started to dislike, after long work hours) and not limited by the availability of my living room. Whenever I want, wherever I want, Whatever I want. On top of that SteamOS is so comfy to use... Wow!
Happy to hear that those that didn't get it yet will get it even faster. Thanks Valve!

I wonder how many they will have sold by the time they catch up with pre-orders?
I think that horizon is starting to show in the distance--like, by the end of the year maybe they'll be more or less up to date, so you'll be able to just . . . order them, as in go on Steam and click purchase and lay down money all in one step.
And at that point it will finally start to be coherent to talk about sales figures. Not that they won't continue to sell units, but there will finally be some kind of relationship between how fast the things are selling and how many people want to buy one.

This thing is going to revolutionize the mobile laptop space and manufacturers still have their hands over their eyes stuck in the lets pretend 'pandemic prices forever' mindset. This thing is £349 and plays the majority of PC games.Recent 'gaming' laptops releases are priced between £2,000 £4,000 ! and honestly there not even really that portable.
This means you can actually PC game without getting a 2nd mortgage.. on Linux no less.
yea.. I know, someone is going to say a laptop is way more versatile (disagree) and can play in higher fidelity, but how much does that actually matter right now ? Given the price of everything else in the current world. If you plug in a small self powered portable monitor to the steam deck and some bluetooth peripherals it's pretty much close to the usability of a laptop for coding and office applications at least.
Now imagine a better battery, a slightly better specification screen and the next custom AMD CPU/GPU. It really would be closing the gap. At the very least, still keep your PC rig for the big screen, multi-screen and then the deck for everything else.
laptop manufacturers like ASUS could come out with a compelling competitor but i doubt they could match on price and it would surely ship with winblows for the masses and be overpriced and filled with bloatware and a host of terrible aesthetic choices.

I’ve been having a lot of fun with mine, works great.
A previous article about Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered being awesome isn’t wrong.
Works, mostly, flawlessly (the odd graphical artifact that may be present in the windows version) and a great game.
If anyone enjoyed the Batman Arkham games, it’s just as good if not quite a bit better.
For some reason it crashes randomly on my Linux desktop, but that might be Nvidia driver issues.

Hope I'll find as useful as you. I have bad experience with the n switch, as I have "big hands".
But the deck it's much more versatile.

But the deck it's much more versatile.
I can't say if it will be big enough (all hands are not the same), but it's similar to holding my Steam Controller... With a screen in the middle. It's bigger and a lot more comfortable than my son's Switch Lite, for sure!

I confirmed and purchase mine 5 days ago. Is there a way to check the order status? Will they send a tracking number for recipients to track (in general but specifically to Canada)?

Tracking information gets put there when it's available, too.
