Valve has confirmed that production of the Steam Deck has gone better than expected, and so even more (yes again) people will be seeing their emails to purchase one.

This has happened multiple times recently, so things are going very well over at Valve. Back at the end of July Valve announced they had sorted issues with their supply chain, then in the middle of August they also announced the number of emails going out was increasing.

Now we're back again because developer Lawrence Yang mentioned on Twitter yesterday:

Hi all, a few of you may have received an order email for your “Q4 window” Steam Deck reservation today. This wasn’t a mistake! Production has outperformed our estimates, and we’ll be moving more Q4 folks into the Q3 window.

Official announcement and info coming soon. 🎉

No other announcement has arrived yet, so likely an official Steam news post coming later this week. As a reminder, emails to purchase a Steam Deck go out every Monday and Thursday. Update: Yang also clarified on Twitter the reservation dates haven't been updated just yet.

Be sure to check out my essential Tips and Tricks for the Steam Deck and check out a few suggested games to pick up that won't break your bank balance.

Yeah, a friend was in the Aug-Sep bracket and he got his e-mail yesterday. He said he ordered his SD in October. Good times!

RDNA3 and RDNA3+ APU's on 5/4nm will be a REAL special time for handheld devices! Might start seeing some APU's come end of 2023.

Looking forward to the day the existing market is saturated enough for Valve to start selling to Australia.

Every time they "ramp up production" and are able to deliver more fast to customers, I fear that it is because too many people have cancelled their order. On the other hand, it is much more ideal if people can order and then get a Steam Deck almost immediately. It can also mean that it becomes more readily available to the general public, and show up in electronics stores (though that probably requires the software to be slightly more mature still).

I do hope that it is simply because they are able to produce them faster, and they therefore end up in more users' hands. At this rate it may almost be available for Christmas for new buyers.

My deck it's already on the way (after waiting a year).
I imagine the production its increasing because it's no longer necessary to produce useless crypto miners.
Nvidia/amd are not producing the new graphics card and want to wait as there are to much on the market and aren't selling as much.
Or simply the production has increased.

I'm waiting to try mine this or next week.

Is this really the case? I'm thinking about upgrading my desktop since a while and haven't yet stumbled upon new parts for super cheap, yet.

Meeh, now I don't have a special status anymore as one of the chosen few with a Deck. Now everyone will have a deck.

For GPUs, it's was getting less bad, but not yet good when I looked last time.

Yes, that is my issue with the whole supply situation as well. I already miss being special.

I'm already importing mine from the US but as soon as one is available in Australia to buy, I'm buying one as a gift for someone.

I just made a reservation the other day and it said Q4. My plans to make it a Christmas gift for my wife is now ruined.

Weird that they claim Q4 emails are going out, while mine says expected Q3 and I haven't gotten one. Maybe the cheaper ones are more readily available?

Yep! It's exactly this. The 512gb model is a lot longer to get than any other.

It's also a region thing too of course, some regions just have more stock.

Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing them all showing up in the stats.
