Stunlock Studios have revealed quite a lot of their plans for V Rising, the popular open-world vampire survival game.

A game that can run well enough on Steam Deck and Linux desktops with the Proton compatibility layer. However, a sore spot for Steam Deck players is that there's no controller support and playing it on Deck can be a bit of a hassle. The good news is that's going to change!

In their "Dev Update #15: Future Visions" post along with many other gameplay improvements coming, this was mentioned:

Players might also be happy to know that we’re looking into adding controller support, and we’re increasingly confident that it’s something that will be possible for us. This would be a major step in the direction of being able to port to consoles and other platforms, as well as offer better support for Steamdeck.

Nice to see more developers paying attention!

You can buy V Rising on Humble Store and Steam.

Never been much of a console player, no handhelds either.

But having played V Rising, I can imagine it working pretty well on steamdeck with properly adapted controls for inventory, building and crafting. The combat is already very centric on movement and targetting, so that should work with little adaption. It felt like a controller game with mouse&keyboard already in that regard.
