0 A.D., an in-development free and open source real-time strategy game has a big new release out with Alpha 26. Easily one of the most impressive open source game projects!

The release is named after the ancient Chinese philosopher Zhuang Zhou, who is better known as Zhuangzi and who wrote one of the most influential texts in Taoism.

Some of what's new in this release includes:

  • A new civilization: The Han
  • New campaign maps: Tarim basin and Yangtze.
  • Now units have acceleration.
  • Twenty-six new music tracks.
  • New and updated art.
  • Better formation movement.
  • New graphical options like Texture Quality and Anisotropic Filtering.
  • Many performance improvements and ongoing refactorings.
