Made in DACH is the name of the latest theme sale from game store GOG.com, with a special selection of titles developed by people in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Running until September 19th, 2022, 10 PM UTC, perhaps this is a chance for you to find something from a smaller developer or just something new to play through the week?

For this themed sale they did a few fun lists too:

  • “Weltschmerz” that include games with morally dubious choices (e.g. Ghost on the Shore, Black Mirror franchise, The Shattering).
  • “Reisefieber” for players seeking some adventure (e.g. Deponia franchise, BIOMUTANT, Growbot).
  • “Waldeinsamkeit” with exciting survival games and rogue-lites (e.g. Highrisers, Endzone – A World Apart, Alone in the Dark Trilogy).
  • “Schmetterling” which are really cute games (e.g. Dorfromantik, Luna: The Shadow Dust, LOST EMBER).
  • “Simulators” (e.g. Railway Empire, We Are Football, Smart City Plan).
  • Deep Stories Bundle by Application Systems Heidelberg including items: Unforeseen Incidents, The Longing, Lamplight City.

If you do find any particularly good deal, be sure to let people know in the comments.

The bundle names are so beautiful on their own..

... well, if you understand the words, I guess. :)

I know schmetterling is butterfly, it's my fave word for a butterfly. Also waschbär (also german) for raccoon and kaplumbağa (turkish) for turtle.

The sale includes some really awesome games. Too many to name them all, so I'll just list a few of those that I enjoyed:
  • Drakensang is a pretty well done RPG using the Dark Eye rule set and setting. Platinum rating on ProtonDB.
  • The Guild II: Renaissance. That's The Guild II bundled together with all DLC, for the price you'd otherwise pay for each DLC. It's an amazing RPG/crafting simulation hybrid. Sadly it's a bit buggy, and WINE also tends to have troubles with it. It seems to be running fine with Proton 7.x though.
  • Valhalla Hills. It's an homage to The Settlers 2 and manages quite well to put a modern mantle on that game design. Wuselfaktor. Has a native Linux version.
  • Deponia Trilogy (yes, there are 4 games in the trilogy). I did not want to mention those games, because everyone knows them already, but they are just too awesome not to. My absolute favourite adventure games. Native on Linux.
  • Shadow Tactics. It's one of the best strategy games I've played. Similar to Desperados. Also native on Linux.
  • Airline Tycoon Deluxe. It's mostly managing flight plans, but it's also hilarious. Linux Native.
