I've been thoroughly impressed with their first two models, as I continue using the upgraded version of the original all the time. It works great but they clearly wanted to push the boat out with this one. With a whole new design that incorporates a M.2 SSD, you're not going to run out of space any time soon when using it.

My one complaint remains the same as their previous models, with the Ethernet slot annoyingly being on the side which makes it stick out in a bit of an awkward way. Other than that, the design looks pretty lovely.
I've been told GOL is getting a review unit again, so I'll be taking a good look at this one at some point soon.

It's to "premium" for me. I'm and "old school" gamer. Bring me the s/ata with cd or floppy connector.
Also, I don't understand the m.2 support.

Is playing docked "good" now? I remember testing it a few weeks (or 1 - 2 months ago) and I still had issues with either games lagging or input lag of one or two games.
For example:
I got Elden Ring and Monster Hunter Rise running with 30 fps by changing the resolution but I got Input Lag on Monster Hunter (and on Dead Cells). Even when I play directly on my Steam Deck connected to my TV.
I have a 4k TV and switched to Game Mode. And as I said: Elden Ring runs without any input lag.
Has anyone a good tutorial for me for playing docked on a 4K TV? :-)

They should bump up to at least 4 3.1 usb ports in my opinion for what they're going to be charging. I have to use an external hub on my daughter's docked desktop steam deck because I don't want her mouse and keyboard taking up the only usb ports on the hub.

Agree, Ethernet on the back (not on the side) and at least 1 more USB port.
Also needs an USB-C extension cable for handheld play 1-2 meters away from the dock :P

In the time between when I ordered my "upgraded" dock from then and now my dock went from New York and New Jersey (no, it wasn't on the dock).
Kinda frustrated that I could have paid for this and a much better dock comes within seemingly less than a month. I know that production and technology goes fast but this feels like a slap in the face. I'm not one to be sour about these things because I bought my Index knowing Valve's support for SteamVR has been (putting it politely) "less than stellar".
Very nice to see a new feature like this regardless and I hope it treats it well.

HB0702 had DP + HDMI, but it was only very briefly listed (as Sold Out) on their site and disappeared completely this week. The old product page is now a 404.
It's actually very annoying that I ordered the "upgraded" dock a month ago, and before it had even been delivered a newer model that I would have preferred was announced and almost immediately delisted. The company has seemingly ignored my and others' questions about HB0702 via email, reddit, and twitter. It's frustrating.

You have a valid point. I pre-ordered the rev 2 of the dock not long after it was announced back in early July. I just received it a couple of weeks ago and now there's a rev 3 being announced. The price is nearly doubling for every revision too, though the m2 slot is a nice touch. I have a 512gb high speed samsung sd card in mine and a 512gb m2 so I'm not overly worried about storage but this will be a nice option for some.
Also have 3 other much less expensive usb C docks from Amazon and they all work fine with the steam deck, so you can get by with a lot less if you want to come up with your own docking solution.

Also be aware, the upgraded docking station (https://www.jsaux.com/products/upgraded-docking-station-for-steam-deck) actually doesn't have a DP (DisplayPort). I got mine and was also mislead by the description on this page which states:

Currently there is no 0702 in their products, only a 0602, so I assumed this was a typo and it meant this version (0603) has an additional DP port.
Now from your post I realised there actually was a 0702 and that's what they meant...

There has been a dock on the market similar to this for a while now, however with the addition of a type c data port and removable cable to allow for custom lengths.
However I can't currently find any information of deck support or the power supply needed for overhead as 15v 3A is the standard.
I wish steam went with the 20v standard to allow any dock and power supplies to just work as they would a laptop plus a 100w power supply would allow 55w overhead to charge other devices plus the 10w needed for most Nvme storage.

I would like to follow up: Email support at JSAUX this morning told me HB0702 "is expected to be released in mid-September", and to follow their social media for announcements. Which is what I'm doing, and what led to the current confusion, but sure—they did answer the question this time.
So hopefully that means a dock with DP will finally become available. If I can order it along with the extra power supply that was out of stock when I ordered HB0603 etc. last month, so much the better.

The right bottom is a B-key only.
B-key defines 2xPCIe, a sata and usb 3 and a few others.
The M-key defines 4xPCIe and not the few others of the.
As the standard does not say you have to *have* that pinout, it says you have to *expect* those signals.
Combining M+B makes sure you only have PCIe (up to 4x) and sata I think.
Just the B-key sounds almost like a full featured PCIe bus (as PCIe also has usb and other lanes available).
